More fun, more powerful, etc. sure. But a lot of people (in this case the OP's wife) don't care about that kind of stuff. And you don't buy the 40i for fun to drive, you buy the v8.

Id say, in defense of the 40i, its pretty damn quick but yeah the twin turbo v8 is an animal and in another league.
Also- the Lexus and the b58 x5 should be very close in reliability being as they’re both essentially Toyotas in a sense…..
