We will have to agree to disagree about my assessment as both the 4.0i and 50E have the same identical B58 engine, chassis, and options. Only difference is an additional giant battery, extra electric motors, and modules to make all the PHEV stuff work. Personally, I will never buy a PHEV or all electric car for that matter as I keep my cars 12-15 years; it's all complicity that I do not desire plus less MPG when running on gas due to the weight. It's a shame BMW does not have the diesel still available in the US as its a far superior engine and the Europeans are lucky to have it in their market.
BMW doesn't make a 4.0i, it is a 40i.

Not sure what the Metro DC's counties have anything to do with the different markets between the 50e and the 40i. There is no comparison between the availability of them, hence a different discounting structure.
