My iPhone charges normally on the Apple MagSafe charger every night at home as well, but the same charger (different unit) when used in my G05 overheats the same phone. Difference is that when at home there is no CarPlay or Navigation running vs while in the car.
So looking at the responses thus far, I am pretty confident that its the poor thermal management of many phones and not really an issue with G05 wireless charger...
