Never tried non-M-Sport brakes but the M-Sport brakes are more than adequate I would say. My pre-LCI 40i is tuned now and is much quicker than stock (0-60 timed at 4.2s) and the brakes still inspire confidence in fast road use.
Where they would be inadequate is on a track but I doubt many people are tracking a 40i SUV.
