New Tivo connected services app

Did anyone notice a new media Tivo app has turned up today in ID8.5. You may need to force a update as the app has being updated several times today.

It seems to be a portal for lots of streaming tat, Pluto TV and lots of other stuff.

You can watch Sky News though, which isnt too bad.

You do need to use mostly touch to navigate and its not exactly optimized for the idrive screen.

You don't need eSim to watch anything so its on BMWs dime and free (currently).

Guess BMWblog did something on this back in May. Guess its available for all cars in the USA with ID8.5

What data connection does it use? Does it require personal eSIM activation?

It is like the Spotify app and it uses the vehicle's cell connection.

Waiting for 8.5, it’s middle of October and I haven’t heard of people getting the update OTA.

I would think you need a Tivo subscription to get all of the content but have not looked into it. The OTA has started rolling out in at least Canada and the UK. Hopefully the US shortly.

Tivo is just being used for branding. It has nothing to do with the Tivo DVR system thats being around forever which requires subscription.

The movies are all free and coming from the Pluto TV inside the app, which is a free ad-supported streaming tv service owned and operated by the Paramount Streaming division

Apps are free, but it's asking for eSIM. Is anyone able to run without eSIM activation? It's not worth 20 a month for this service.

I haven't used it over the last few days. Perhaps things have changed. It didn't when i used it last week.

Just checked again and there is no eSIM request when I try and watch any of the content. Not sure why it’s asking you for eSIM .

When you use the YouTube app in iDrive, does it ask for eSIM activation?

Youtube and that soccer app thing require eSIM

The Ryder Cup video app and the new Tivo Video app currently does not require eSIM

reading this, I would expect this is only for G05 LCI and the apps didn't make it to Pre-LCI?

Coincidentally found the app around lunch while at a traffic light and was scrolling through the app menu. Figured I had missed it before.

Kinda cool. Uses built in data, not the eSIM.

Agreed as TiVo is all but dead outside of those that do not understand the plethora of options 5X better. There's an AA hack that delivers the same result, i.e., Pluto TV/Paramount. Good to here that 8.5 has opened it up without the need for the back

Well, BMW seems to have removed the TiVo video app now. At least for me.

Anyone else still have it and able to use it ?

I saw this after the update software update. When I selected the Tivo option, a message indicated the software was being downloaded. After the download was completed, the widget disappeared - never to be seen again.

Yea, i spoke to BMW connected services about it and they said its saved for the 7 and 5 series for now. It could return to the X5 at sometime in the future along with that video game thing ...
