i drive keeps rebooting?

Help
So driving my wife’s X5 30d G05 none LCI but has the hybrid diesel engine.

It’s a September 2022 car with idrive 7.

So driving the car the idrive just reboots for no reason, the nav can be on or off?

It’s 1000miles off for its first service, and has a huge warranty list but this is really concerning as other things appear to be happening, ie windows not going down ? Snatching gear box?

So anyone shed some light please

Have you tried restarting iDrive? It likely shouldn't make a difference since you said it is rebooting but worth a shot. It could be a bad head unit? Did you do an OTA update recently?

Okay, it was worth a shot. Hopefully it is something simple for the deal to fix. If you can let us know how it turns out that would be great.

We've had the iDrive randomly reboot every second or third time we're out in the X5. I asked the SA about it earlier today when I had the Z4 in for an oil change. He said that it appears to be a common issue if you are using an iPhone with the MyBMW app and have it connected. It appears to be a sync issue between the phone and the iDrive which at some point triggers the reboot.

He said that since iOS and ID OS updates are not coordinated, it's a waiting game to see which update may resolve the issue. I noticed it sometime after getting the 11/2023 OTS update, and have had at least 2 minor iOS updates since then. He did say that his wife's car just got the 03/2024 update.

He said the other option is disconnecting your phone. You just have to decide which inconvenience is more tolerable.

that’s bull from your SA. my 2021 45e is currently on 11/2023.50 and iPhone 14 Pro iOS 17.4.1. in over 3 years, six software updates, and daily CarPlay use, my iDrive has never randomly rebooted.

That's possible. But when accounting for all the iOS, ID OS, iPhone models, and car models and build configurations, a single "no problem" or "I've got the problem" does not provide evidence either way. I can say my 2022 40i is on 11/2023.50 and iPhone 12 iOS 14.7.1 in almost 3 years and however many updates and not using CarPlay, my iDrive didn't have a problem until about 6-8 weeks ago. In any case I did some more searching and found the following communication.

Basically it says if your I-Level is before 07/2023.52, update to the latest. If it is that or newer, don't reprogram but Update apps and services. Since that's easy to do, I'll try updating apps and services and see what happens.

Same exact problem here. Did you ever find a fix?

No. I did the Update Apps and it made no difference. It seems to be once every trip or every other trip it randomly reboots.

Guess we'll wait and see if the next OTA fixes it. I'll also complain to the dealer when it goes in for an oil change and brake fluid service in a couple months.

Mine happens maybe once every month or every other month. Weirdly I haven't updated my iPhone in the last 2 years; only change here was a software update to 11/2023 least year but this issue only started around February of this year.

I have turned off background refresh for the myBMW app and I'll see if that makes any difference. Otherwise a service visit will be the next course of action for me as well.
