2025 X5 soft close
Do any of the models have this feature? Having trouble finding which models have this included. Thanks for everyone’s help.

My M60i has it. I didn’t order it specifically, so it must have come as part of one of the packages BMW defined for my market (Poland)

They all have it if you spec the right package. Executive package has it.

Part of the executive package as stated before but I feel like half the time I forgot and just slam the door. Plus the soft close doors on the BMW are a bit slow to close vs my Range Rover I had.

I honestly could go without them and never care. This is our first car with them and I've been slamming my own doors shut for 30 years. Just more to go wrong later but that's just me.

Love the feature as I never have to fuss about whether or not the kids closed their doors all the way.

I’ve had these on multiple BMWs. They’re not nothing to fret about most generally you don’t even know that they’re on there BMW doors don’t really have a kickback, which makes you open it and slam it so you’re good. It’ll close easy and lock with out the soft close They’re not needed

Mine does not have it. One of my passengers apparently had never closed his door in a few years and was confused. He is a Tesla fanboy with all the accessories (see plaid).

Once you get into the habit of soft closing they are great. I have found the key to training passengers is to tell them to close the door without taking their hand off the handle, still takes a little time to get used to it.

I’ve also got it in my car that I picked up yesterday only. I’ve to say I’m pleasantly surprised by the feature. I’ve never had it in any car and had not experienced either. I even asked the dealer if I could leave this out but being part of a package, it was included. It just been a day but I’m already using it. Now, just need to keep reminding my wife about that until she gets used to it 😄

It did take a while to adjust to having them, but I'm a number of cars into soft close and fully onboard with them.
If you think about it: Where did the slamming paradigm even come from? I mean you don't grab your front door handle, sail it off toward the jamb with some pepper on it, and then comment about how sturdy the slam sounded. To me, having had soft close for a while, there is an elegance to soft close. The slam methodology seems pointless, something we do and don't even know why. |

That's a good question...by in the days, my dad had a 1972 Ford Maverick that the door weighted a ton...you had to almost slam the door to ensure it was closed. But not the case nowadays.

Even my wife is capable of shutting the X5 doors without slamming, I haven't told her that we have soft close doors as she would have to be re-trained. She had a habit of either slamming car doors or not closing them, no issue with the X5 as they close really well.
