HUD setting won't stick
First-world problem of the day:
I set my HUD vertical position setting to the highest level on the windshield. Every few days I notice it has reverted to the default, where I can't see the bottom 20% or so without stretching my neck. So I reset it again. Repeat. Repeat. Any clues? |

how do I know it’s saved in the cloud? we have an X5 and a 530e, both with HUD. I noticed when I changed the HUD position in one vehicle, it would change tire position in the other vehicle. annoying. so I had to go back and forth between the two to find a position suitable for both vehicles which admittedly didn’t take very long. it doesn’t make sense for this setting to be saved in the cloud since the cabin configuration between two different vehicles is different |

How does the car get its settings from the cloud? Thru a paired phone or does the car need an active ESIM?

If sync is activated it uses the vehicle's cell connection.

My real question is do I need to get an ESIM/cell service for the car? Or does it magically have that on its own?

They come with their own cell connection. ESim and WiFi hotspot services are for your use.

other settings I’ve noticed that are saved in the cloud and used across different vehicles that also support that feature:
- radio presets - ambient light - home page widget layout I’m sure there are others that are not so obvious. changing any of these in one vehicle changes it in the other. I understand BMW’s rationale to share some settings across vehicles similar to the way some Apple apps are shared across devices, but the HUD height doesn’t make sense. |

Doesn't the HUD settings get saved when you save the seat setting to your profile.

Yes they do and good point. You must do the Set in order for them to be saved.

Interesting. On my third x5. For the first time a couple weeks ago I noticed it had lowered with the bottom disappearing out of sight. Had to adjust height. So far it’s sticking. It never occurred to me to do a save after the adjustment.

In order to have anything saved to the driver profile, and the cloud if enabled and applicable, you need to use the Set button to do so.

I'll try it but I should add that the HUD height will sometimes stay where I set it for weeks, then reverts for no apparent reason or deliberate action on my part. |

after setting the HUD height, iDrive should state that we need to SET the seat memory in order to save its position
