No, it is a separate option for the M60i.

Hi all,
I have some questions regarding the X5 M60i, I’m coming from the X5 M50. 1. Is the exhaust note quieter on the M60 compared to the M50? Can you adjust the sound in the idrive? 2. If I add the adaptive M suspension package, $2K option, does it lower the car as indicated and if so how much. I’m assuming it’s still running on springs. 3. I heard from my stealer that I can order one until March. BMW put a hold on orders until March. I’m in the DC area. 4. Is there any fuel efficiency to be gained, if so approximate MPG or mile at fill up, in making the switch? I’m leaning towards Brooklyn Grey/Coffee/ Black 22 inch wheels. Thanks all! 2. We were just discussing this the other day. While we can find no specific number in the docs, 10mm is the number we have seen. 3. We have heard of no holds and people have been ordering them. Try another dealer as it sound like yours may have a waiting list. 4. EPA testing shows a 1 mpg gain.

My rep at dealer said allocations are limited for m60i right now vs x50e in the US.

Good comments so far.
Glad it’s lowered! I sent a question to BMWUSA on the allocation question also. I contacted about 6 delivers in the DMV area. Not to impressed with the fuel economy uptick and a quieter exhaust. I wonder if it’s just a matter of opening the exhaust values. Last edited by Susoa; 01-05-2024 at 08:06 AM.. |

Susoa in your adaptive M question - I personally considered this but went with the air option instead.
My understanding was adaptive M would be better if I was taking this to a track and a bit more serious about that aspect of driving. With air, I’m able to of course select different modes, and I added lowering links (super cheap and easy DIY mod) to drop it a bit further than stock. If you’re really looking for the best performance with what I think (?) is a stiffer ride, adaptive M might be your pick. Otherwise, might be good to look at the air option. Others who know more than me will hopefully chime in if helpful for you. |

As a bit of context, I tend to think based on following the threads throughout Bimmerpost that folks from the US will tend to prefer soft, somewhat cushiony ride (take this comment as a broad generalization and in no way a specific remark about anyone on the forum)
A friend of mine, Polish as me, had an M60i on order, which he optioned with air suspension out of fear for low comfort on steel springs. Due to long waiting time and his allocation being voided, he dropped the order and picked up a stock X5M from one of the dealers. That thing definitely doesn’t have air suspension. And the friend is all happy about the ride comfort I optioned my M60i (ordered in November) with m professional suspension with active anti roll bars, after having driven in an air sprung car which wallowed to an extent I couldn’t bear To each their own. Go and drive both types of suspension and form your preference based on your own test. As my friend’s example shows, you may be surprised

Probably because all of the end of lease X5M owners are opting for the M60, such as myself due to the higher lease money factor between the two for the X5M. Seriously, early December 2023 if I wanted a ‘24 X5M I would have had to wait for a February 2024 allocation due to limited allocations, but I was able to slide right into a M60 allocation that was actually built 2 weeks earlier this week. Could be a supply chain issue as the M60 shares the same engine, transmission, differential as the X5M and it finally caught up (there are small part differences between the 2 models). Hope that BMW doesn’t have issues next with the B58 engine that would bring US bound cars to a standstill with the production hold already for the 50e.

I had a G06 X6 w air and I think it wobbled also. I used to have a F10 M5 and I really liked it. With my current X5 M50 I do however use the comfort mode for the suspension quite often but it is a tad soft. |

When I test drove a dealer’s demo car on 22” wheels and with M adaptive professional suspension it was as comfy as my 7 series, if not more (especially on broken surfaces like cobblestone or concrete slabs on some real back roads)

In regards to the tight allocations for the M60i and the X5MC, just went on waiting lists for each at my dealer. Was told that BMWNA is prioritizing the I6 builds for the X5/X6/X7 over the V8s, including the full M versions of the X5/X6. BMW Individual is also unavailable for the X5/X6/X7 until the ‘25 model year starts production.
