I wouldn't assume that. My Ford pickup only supports wired CarPlay and is only about 40% successful at working on the first time I plug it in. The vehicle knows the phone is plugged in because it's charging and it will stream over USB but getting CarPlay to work requires multiple tries and then rebooting the whole infotainment system.
