Look at the exhausts ... there are one each right/left side, which is not the current setup of the X3. So unless they are re-engineering the exhaust of the X3 or they have done this as way to disguise which model then this would either be an X5 or an X7.

BIMMERPOST NEWS Next-Gen BMW X5 (G05) Already Under Testing Updated November 9, 2016 with new photos: The previous G05 X5 models spied were early chassis testing mules which were helpful only to signal that the next gen X5 was already in testing and due within the next couple of years. Now that the mules have moved from their frankenstein mashup stage, we can finally make out actual production styling, size and proportions. The biggest change so far appears to the the kidney grilles which have now been stretched vertically and slant forward aggressively. Also visible now are the air intakes in the front bumper, new rear end, and exhaust tips. The head and tail lights remain fake, but the rest of the prototype shows the all new BMW X5. Expect the G05 X5 to be revealed sometime later next year. Follow our X5 (G05) coverage @ http://www.bimmerpost.com/x5/g05/

The kidneys are so big I thought it was the X7.
Im glad they're going for revolution in style. BMWs are looking too bland now. They used to be striking, different, exquisite. But that mule worries me a bit. The kidneys are way too big, and really leaning foward. Im curious to see how it turns out. At least its not just a facelift of the previous model, neither a bigger copy of other model *cough*g30*cough*. |

Wheelbase is way too small to be an X5, imo. I'm leaning towards thinking this is an X3 like the others above me.
I love a good spy shot controversy, seems to be the norm these days

Good point. On second thought, maybe they're resizing the X5 to make room for an X7? :

It looks lower and smaller than the current X5 to me. I agree with others that it looks more like an X3.

Look at all the fake body panels at work all the screws, If you look closely you can see all the sheet metal screws holding on the fake panels.
Totally masking it's true identity, hood doors trunk it's all fake don't even try to get a feeling of how it looks from these pics as its all their to fool you. Showing these sort of spy shots are a total waste of time. Here is what they do to the car before they lay on the camo graphics. |

I am almost certain this is x3 and not x5. It just looks too small and the car is too advanced in a stage of development. looks like the final car under the camo.
Won't there be an x5 LCI first?

And also the current x5 is being superseded with a newer model using the new architecture, BMW is rushing it to market so the LCI is being past up. At least that's what I've read. Not saying that this is the x5 which looks rather small but I thought I'd share what I know. |

Wow, so far don't like the rendering at all, I think the current gen is perfection, just need an update to meet the new G11 and G30 inside out. Please make it beautiful as I plan to get one for my wife while I can move to the next M5/6, 760M...
