Lots to like about the F15 (interior, drive, tech) but I really have never bonded with how it looks. I much preferred the E70 LCI and still do a double take every time I see one on the road. Much sharper lines. The F15 is too bloated in the back, especially in black, where the black trim piece on the rear window gets lost. I'm super excited about the G05. The G01 is the best looking SUV out there right now, IMHO, so if the G05 looks anything like a bigger G01, it'll be sharp as hell.

I love the lines on this from this angle:

I couldn't have said it better
The E70 LCI M-Sport will be a classic, just like how I revere the E46 3-series.

I too was torn about the less aggressive appearance of the F15 M-Sport, but ended up getting it anyway to replace our E70 M-Sport diesel. I'm sure once I see the G05 in M-Sport guise I will be kicking myself as to why I didn't wait, as last month I sold the F15 and my wife is now enjoying her G01 X3 M40i (of note, winters are installed as we ordered the 21" 718Ms).

This is great! The lease on our current SUV is up next November.... I was getting bummed that the current X5 didn't really have a 3rd row to speak of which we use from time to time... Now that it is going to be bigger looks like we'll be getting one of these! About time the car companies are realizing this... you seeing it more and more for a 3rd row...

That render could be pretty close. I finally figured out what has been bugging me about the latest camo drop pics - the top body line passes below the front door handle instead of through it.

That would certainly be an odd top body line, unlike any other in the entire line up. It also doesn't match some of the camo shots, like the one I linked to from above:

Not sure what is accurate, but hoping it's not the latest render.

If you look a similar test mule in the shots from other angles, you can see that the body line passes below the front door handle, and there is a solid piece of plastic screwed on the back door that covers the line on the rear door. So this picture is not showing as much as the most recent camo drop photos.

If it ends up looking like that render, I'm definitely not a fan. Only thing I'm liking is those headlights. Maybe the M-Sport version will change my mind.

That body line is hideous.

Boy, I hope it does not look like that render. I have to think it would be pretty odd to have this one vehicle have a curved body line when all the newer models seem to be straightening it out (despite the potential throwback to a 2000s design paradigm).

I'm going to hold out hope that the body panels in the latest camo reveal are just placeholders.

I don't know but that render seems like it makes the rear cargo space much smaller than I'd like. I also don't like that side body line. Might need to go to a darker color to obscure it.

Seems like I may be one of the few that is excited for the new X5! Even the render looks nice to me

Will order for December delivery once available unless BMW offers me some crazy deal on a 2018 X5M they want to get rid of...

I am pretty excited about it. At least I was until I saw that render.

But, I'm going to go out on a limb and say the body panels on the most recent camo reveal are not final. I'm just having a hard time believing that BMW would make the X5 body lines go completely against every other model in their entire vehicle lineup, including some brand new versions of the X3 and X4, not to mention the X2. I could see them introducing a new style with a new X5 if the others would follow, but the G01 is brand new. I have to believe it's more likely that the X5 will follow the G01 X3.

Of course, I may just be trying to convince (deluding) myself that it's not going to be as bad as that render looks.

Sure , otherwise there is no point to invest over 1B$ into the factory .

Maybe it'll be something like this, with the camo is hiding the top line somehow (or these are not the actual production panels). This would be consistent with every other new BMW out. If so, it'd look great. #reaching

I want to hate the new X4, but every time I look at it, it grows on me. I mean I'd still never buy one... but I hate it less and less. lol Also I rather divert more of my anger towards the X1/X2.

X7 has the entire top side line below the door handles, front and rear.

I have a bad feeling about this...

I think it's shaping up to look good—MSport that is. I actually like the side detail. Sorta like a rake stance!
