Any issues if add-on exhaust tips touch on M50i?

Thinking of removing the surround trim on my 50i and replacing it with X5M type dual tips on each side. Is there any issue if the tips touch each other since the original exhaust tips are closer together?

I am thinking apart from noise there shouldn't be any issue because the original dual tips originate from single pipe on each side. Advice welcome.

You may hear a rattling sound if the tips touch each other. I suggest leaving a slight gap between the tips unless the tips you plan to purchase are designed to be side-by-side and are welded together.

My aftermarket tips on my M50i are about 1.5-2mm apart from each other. Prior to my current setup, I had them 0.5mm apart from each other, literally paper thin spacing, and they were rattling against each other, even at idle.

Awesome! Thanks for responding and I suspected that may be the case. I plan to use this between the tips to cushion and hopefully not have noise else welding may be an option.

They are 2.75" but they are slanted, which makes them look a bit larger

Thanks! I have 2.75 right now. Thinking of going 3.5 after removing the outer baffle. We will see how that turns out - the tips will likely be in contact but that cannot be helped
