Looks bery good, very nice improvement for the interior. Car looks very nice, except that those big connected kidneys dont grow on me...

Here a more detailed review, around 8:00 it is explained how they work. You see the car also in other color ;-)

Those auto rails are fucking stupid. Spend the money giving me better handling, more power, better braking. I’ve never once said, my groceries are sliding.... maybe my slicks, but that won’t solve the issue.
Ok, I’ll,even say, spend the money on better speakers, seats, carpet, electronics, etc... never once we’re sliding groceries an issue.

Utility is very important to this buyer. I'd definitely choose any option that lets me secure cargo more effectively.

Different strokes.

Will North America get the "M Performance" 22" wheels at launch that they showed?

In fairness, the majority of people are on their phones every 6 seconds, so it wouldn't be a big deal. I take my phone out of my pocket whenever I get in the car anyway, so it wouldn't bother me.
Good point. Use NFC in conjunction with Comfort Access, where most of the time you'll have your key in your pocket anyway, using Comfort Access for primary entry. If you forget your key in your other pants pocket, (but heck, we NEVER forget our phones, do we?) you could use NFC as a backup.

Although, now that I think about it, doesn't the BMW connected app also have an unlock feature? So phones already have a backup unlock capability. But the NFC would just make it a little easier.

The question here is that if I forget the key and unlock the car with the phone, can I also start the engine? Currently the BMW connected app can only unlock and lock the doors but unable to start the car.

It appears that the way it’s implemented in the X5, you can use your phone without the keyfob present to unlock and drive off. BMW is set to release “Digital Key” in July which will bring similar functionality to Samsung phones (presumably android, no articles say) only and allow you to get into the car (again presumably via bmw connected services) and then put the phone on the wireless charging pad (your car has to have come with one for this to work) and start the engine. Every single article stops short of saying whether or not this will allow you to drive off without the keyfob present, in fact one article says you’ll still need a “physical key to drive.” I guess we’ll find out more next month? Makes ZERO sense that this would be limited to Samsung phones when BMW doesn’t even support android auto in favor of Apple CarPlay. Talk about limited audience!

I really like the new vehicle, it is nice. The new headlamps have a nice shape and are not connected wih the grill which was not a great ideea. Bu now we have huge grills, quite too big and a little bit too much.
The X5 certainly increased in dimensions and might be too big for some but nonetheless a wonderful vehicle.

Air suspension, I'm having flash backs of old Range Rover and $6,000 every 35,000 miles to replace the bladders and compressor.

Valid input. Anytime you add a ton of new hardware "gadgets" on the car, you're adding (1) additional weight, and (2) a ton of more opportunities for the gadgets to break.

Yes but adjustable dampers, adjustable (air) springs, and adjustable anti-roll bars is a pretty sweet combination.

Did anyone catch the fact that there is a new "ambient smell package"?

A smart man definitely mentions massaging seats and the aromatherapy system when talking about one of these with the wifey. Just sayin'.

The "one piece " grill shape is really becoming a visual cue in other parts of ht car... interesting. The tailpipe tips even have a hint of the shape of the new kidney...

.. we've also seen the shape applied to the 4 door window outline on a recent concept for a i-line sedan..

Looks great!

They finally got the styling right, so the X5 no longer looks like a minivan from the side.

Can't wait for the M version.
