Garage List
‘24 LCI xDrive 40i. Southeast USA. I have a moderately unuseful post, only to say the 3/2024.40 notification showed on my phone this afternoon, the install was hitch-free and relatively quick and I just got the notice it was finishing while parked in my garage, rendering my car unusable for 20 minutes (with my permission, of course). All done, no idea what’s included/what may have changed.

Same for me, except I’m in the Mid-Atlantic. Installed when I got home from work. No problems after 100 mile drive this evening.

I downloaded and began the transfer process to my car while driving. After 35 mins of driving, it was still only at 5%. Good WiFi and Bluetooth connection. How long have others seen the update take to transfer into the car while driving? I’d hate to take a long roadtrip just to get this update!

Just go about your normal driving and it will eventually transfer. Quite a few of mine took over an hour or two.

Downloaded and installed yesterday on our 2024 50e.

Today, with a full charge, car showed an electric range of 24 miles where we normally get 45.
After driving today and using 50% of the charge, range went down to 11. After charging fully again tonight, range is up to 27 miles at 100%. Maybe I will run it down to 0 electric range.

Our hope is there are bug fixes to the navigation as it is mostly wrong - our location (frequently driving in lakes) and location of our destinations.

Installed today on my 24 50e. Didn't found any changes of functionality at all.

The estimated eletric range down from 46 normally to 43. Not sure if it is related to this update or not.
Will check again tomorrow after drive and recharge.

This was the version the dealership flashed onto my 45e, after the 11/2023 version OTA update bricked it. No significant issues so far (only thing I've noticed is that it tends to default to CarPlay on now, even if I didn't have that enabled previously). Lane keeping seems better (subjectively), but backup object detection still pretty broken, and thus still disabled on mine so I can back out of my garage. Eye detection on TJA is still absolute garbage, and ruins that feature entirely for me. But all of those were existing and long-standing issues, not made worse with this update, as far as I can tell.

The updated wipes out the history used to calculate the range. The actual will not be affected and the range shown will return normal after driving.

Just finished installing. It doesn't recognize the key fob now. I'll try to reset and see what happens.

+1, I downloaded without any issues. Similar experience of range dropping from 48 miles to 43 this morning. Not sure if it was due to the software upgrade!

As was mentioned, EV range is based on previous history which usually gets erased during an update, so it will take at least 18-miles or so (30Km) of driving before it has enough history to reflect reality after being reset to a default value during the update. There can be other things that may take a bit of time to fully resolve (maybe a day or so with some driving, on/off cycles), and it doesn’t hurt to go into APPS, and do an update, to help ensure those understand the new baseline software running the modules.

Completed update yesterday. Still not an option.

Only changed I noticed was the automatic time setting is now correct. It used to automatically set to wrong location/time zone.

Completed the download and upgrade yesterday on my 50e.

So far, IT FIXES EVERYTHING! No more rattles, CELs, CarPlay dropping, I can turn my heated seat on without having the HVAC on, the widgets on the home screen can be customized...all my problems are a thing of the past. Amazing work, BMW!

(If only... )

TBH, I don't notice anything other than my electric range changed to 43 miles when charged to 100%.

This definitely came after the update. I also noticed that some of my settings got wiped. Also I remember correctly (may not) my car would automatically apply the parking brake as soon as I shift park and this was something I turned on in the setting and now I can’t find.

That's how it works. And suddenly it will go to 100%.

Anyone been able to find out what this release contains ? It's pretty weird that there's no meaningful information available.

The setting is still there for me. It's under Driving Settings-->Driving & Chassis

Yeah, but it's when the car turns off. I'm so sure it was when I shifted to the park. But another thing I just noticed is that it wiped off the AC settings I had like the ventilated seats turning on when I turn on the car. It's not much of an inconvenience, but it was just a part of the routine that got broken there for a minute until I put those settings back.

Since the update did say driving assistance systems. I'm going to try the handsfree driving and update yall on that.

Actually that is normal, the release notes are always very general unless a new feature is being introduced.
