New Owner - Brake/tire question
Hello all. First post and first BMW ever. 2024 X5 40i Skyscraper Gray. It's beautiful.
So far, I've really enjoyed the vehicle. My question centers around getting a spare tire and non-RFT tires (20" factory RFT currently). I've read past threads (thx Auricom) and see I have upgraded front brakes (tow package - Brembo) and standard rear brakes (TRW). I plan to buy a spare tire from Modern Spare as well as non-RFTs from Tire Rack. For both the spare and tires, they ask if I have M sport brakes. I guess for the spare I would say yes to accommodate the rim? I don't quite understand how to address the tires as the brakes on the axles are different (and not sure I understand why it matters for tires). I've not run across this differentiation ever buying tires before and it's thrown me off a bit. Appreciate any help. |

They’re really just trying to get at what size rim will fit over your front brakes. You need a larger rim to fit over the M brakes. The rear are smaller so it doesn’t really matter, if the rim clears the front brakes then it will fit the rear as well.

Welcome to the forum. As mentioned, it is just sizing for the spare to fit over the brakes. No need to worry about the tires, just tell them you have the MSport brakes and you will be good to go.
