Sup Fellas. I've been building computers since I was little. Took a little break but I'm back at it again. Looking to build a monster desktop(SLI setup).
My MSI Dominator laptop ain't cutting it but it has some decent specs such as:
- i7 6820HK
- GTX Geforce 980M
- 16GB DDR5
- 2 512GB Samsung Pro 950

I have no budget as of now since I'm rusty and haven't looked at desktop components in a while so any input would be appreciated. I just need to run 4K gaming consistently with all Ultra settings at 60+ FPS

"Budget" Rig that doubles as my work station:

Case: Roswell Galaxy-02 Mid Tower
PSU: EVGA 500W
Motherboard: MSI B150M Pro-VD
Processor: Intel i3-6100 (3.7MHz)
Memory: G.Skill NT Series 8 GB
GPU: Gigabyte Nvidia GTX 1070 G1 Gaming
Network: TP Link Archer T8E
Storage: Samsung 850 Evo 1TB SSD
Display: LG 27" 4K IPS 27UD68

Came in just under $1,300.

I want to say D00M runs 80+ FPS at 1440p with Ultra settings.

If I were going to build a 4K 60fps rig I'd go:

i7 6700K + AIO liquidcooler
m.2 ssd + traditional HDD
gtx 1080 (maybe 2 depending on the games you want to play)

I have too many PCs as it is now, so I don't think im going to upgrade anytime soon.

Am itching to upgrade my 4 year old gaming rig. Just got a 1060 for it which runs some games fine, but I really wanna be ready for VR.....

Ive had quite a few custom built rigs (by me) in the past... currently playing on my latest creation "Tainted Freshly Squeezed" (you can see the worklog here - http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=223143)

Gigabyte X79 UD7

Holy Sh*T. What's the cost on that setup minus the desktop.

Around $3,500. But so worth it. I used to have this till about three months ago

But slimmed down to one rig.

Def one of my goals. Do you think a single GTX1080 can handle 3 display's or a SLI overkill?
