Thumbs wroteHmm, was going to mount mine here but now I'm worried. Got a Valentine radar unit and gesture control.<Edited> After reading other posts I understand it a bit more, the theory is that reflected light from the various in-car cameras is causing the laser false alerts.

Mjmed wroteMy radar detector is mounted at the highest point of the windshield, right next to the rearview mirror housing. In this position, the laser hasn’t triggered any false alerts so far.Hmm, was going to mount mine here but now I'm worried. Got a Valentine radar unit and gesture control.
eugkim wroteWhat were the colors of cables that you plugged the mirror tap into?I found this thread really helpful. I just installed a Uniden R8 in our X7 as outlined. Unfortunately, the hot wire doesn’t seem to be switched as the detector stays on well past 5 minutes. I installed one in my M6 and it has a long delay before turning off. Any suggestions? I may try moving the positive to the next slot - or look to another plug. I saw another thread where someone tapped into a plug in the overhead console instead of the mirror
Tobster3 wroteI’m not sure. The negative was mixed with brown, and the positive may have been purple and another color. Honestly, I just plugged them in the same positions shown in this and multiple other posts as it seems that, having done a few of these in several other car makes, the colored wires never seem to be the same from car to car. The detector powered right up, so I assumed I got it right and tied up the cable and closed everything back up.What were the colors of cables that you plugged the mirror tap into?
