Some excellent builds in here. Just getting into it myself, not sure if I want to put any real money into it. Just glad to get ideas from you all.

What are your favorite racing sims on PC at the moment?
I paid for a month of iRacing. Its very hardcore and i've only played the Miata on Laguna Seca a few times.

My friends and my go to is either Project Cars 2 or Assetto Corsa. Both can be had very cheap if you keep an eye out for steam sales or on cdkeys.com Try to get the deluxe editions that include all DLC cars/tracks.

I am looking forward to checking out Project Cars 3 at the end of the month but there's some controversy around the direction of the game going towards appealing to masses. We shall see.

Thanks Sid, that is where some of my concern is coming in. I was thinking Project Cars 2, but see that 3 is about to come out.

I guess I can look to see if there is a steam sale on PC2. AC looks good too.

There are just so many options that I don't want to overpay for a game that isn't up to the hype.

What is a good price for PC2 with all of the DLC?

Honestly i wouldn't pay more than about $10-12 for the game and all dlc. Especially with 3 coming out this month.

Pcars2 Deluxe edition (all dlc i believe) - https://www.cdkeys.com/project-cars-2-deluxe-edition-pc-steam-cd-key
$13

AC Ultimate Edition - https://www.cdkeys.com/assetto-corsa-ultimate-edition-pc
$10

AC and PC2 both can be had within that price range and both are great with AC being overall a more "realistic" sim w/ better tire model according to SIM community. PC2 is more user friendly especially for creating and joining online races with friends.

Awesome, thanks. I have never gone through cdkeys before, so I wouldn't have looked there.

Picked them both up. Cheap. Nice, I owe you a beer.

Anyone not running a hardcore setup and just using logitech g920 on xbox? Looking to buy this soon.

You're wasting your time with an xbox, there are really good simulators out there and all the "hardcore setups" are off the shelf hardware that snap together with minimal configuration and cost less than the sweet rims you put on your 5 series.

In other words it's worth doing it right cuz it's not that hard or that expensive for what you get.

Well I have an xbox and I'm not looking to purchase a PC so just trying to use what I have.

I think you're perfectly fine with an Xbox.

Forza is a legit game and with Wheel/Pedal setup you will be close enough for a starter set. From there you can decide if you want to indulge more in the hobby.

One thing is that from the mainstream to hardcore setups things get boring fast. Fewer people playing, stricter rules, more expensive etc.

Except, I can walk out to the driveway and get in it and take it for a spin....anytime I like. I actually understand the notion of driving games and first person shooters etc.....I've tried them and have found that I'd rather do the real thing....I like to drive my car, go to the range and have sex with an actual woman....call me old fashioned. :D

Simulator enthusiasts aren't trading virtual racing for taking their cars out "for a spin"

Cool story bro. We get it, you don't like video games.

You think those of us that Sim Race lock ourselves in the basement and never leave the house? LOL

I have a full sim rig, a full gaming and movie theater room. Bar. But I still have a normal life, race real cars, a job and still smash my GF lol

After a long day of work. I can hop in my rig for an hour or 2 and just enjoy it. Its nice to do once in a while. When its raining or snowing you arent tracking your car, so this is a great alternative......

Some haters just want to hate.

Pic of my Fanatec setup. Replaced Rift with Rift S since this picture was taken. Looking to get a 80/20 rig for the DD1

yeah, it's chill to just jump on a sim sometimes! I can't go on the Nordschleife everyday and time BTG haha so the sims a nice touch. Assetto Corsa's mods are insane for that

Skins look great!

Finally got a chance to try out my Quest 2 and its a great jump from the RIFT. Been off the rig for a minute but trying to get some more time now

Some really nice setups so far. I’m going to have to fire up my rig soon and take some new pictures!

Home brew.. Ebay NRG seat/sliders, $40 in tubing, $60 powder coating, sedan driving position.
The wheel/base and shifter are set in one position but the seat being on a slider and the pedals having different mounting holes gives plenty of adjustment for any size driver. Simple design that functions very well. I slide my ottoman up next to the rig in front of my 65" for my keyboard/mouse/remotes.. drinks! :p

My current setup:

RSeat S1
Thrustmaster wheel/shifter/brake
HE Sprints pedals
(DD coming this year)

Base shakers under seat and pedals
Samsung G9 49" ultrawide

So far the chassis and brakes were the biggest upgrades.
