S68 X5MC wroteThat's stock measurement. Is this graph out of the BMW manual? I asked because pulling the control arm down to measure is for the ride height. So is this measurement stock height or the new height for the 1.8" drop?
I would assume measure the arm before you take it out, then when you install it you subtract 1.8" from the original measurement before tightening.

r33_RGSport wroteWell, hopefully you're accounting for this when you perform your coilspring swaps. That's stock measurement.
Stock 6.29 inches - Coilspring Drop 1.8 inches = New Measurement 4.49 inches

For us in LA where we can’t charge $1000+ on the labor, we don’t do all of it due to the need to use a 4 post lift and more time spend to reach into hard to reach nuts and bolts.
I do hope that you guys that are getting charged $1000+ on the labor, does includes the zero-ing.
pnm9576 wrotehey guys!
I just installed my mss springs on the f96 on the lowest setting with 20mm spacers all around. I also had an alignment done after installing the springs. After driving about 40 miles i am hearing a clicking noise from the rear of the car every so often. Maybe about every other minute while driving but sometimes more frequent and sometimes less frequent. It is not specific to turning / bumps in roads, etc. It’s just random. Did anyone have this issue or know of this issue? Any help would be appreciated! Cheers!
r33_RGSport wroteHello Ben, could you give a little more details please? Possibly a link to the bulletin, part numbers for the BMW lower link shims, qty required, or best yet a photo or diagram of the specific problem area that has been corrected? Any additional information is greatly appreciated. 👍Is your X6M 2020 or 2021?
If so, it is rear sway bar links to the lower arm have gap. It is BMW thing.
Need to get shims per BMW Bulletin to close the gap.

I test drove an X5M a month ago and it has this very problem. Very noticeable loud clunk with even the slightest left and right movement of the steering wheel at both high speeds and slow parking lot speeds. Was a Toyota dealership so they had no clue what to do. I walked away and they finally called 3 weeks later claiming its fixed but couldn't tell me what they did to fix it. I didn't go back. 😉

S68 X5MC wroteI jotted it down somewhere but can't seem to locate it but when I had the MSS the springs settled somewhere in the 1/4" range after a couple of weeks.Has anyone tried to align after lowering to get it as close as possible? I've read and heard so many things going back and forth on how long settling can/will take. So, I will use these items to align the best I can until a couple of weeks go by and get a true alignment. I'll also be installing the K-Mac lower bushings at the same time. Thoughts?

Prior to purchasing the H&R VTF I reached out to H&R's tech support and they said (and I'm paraphrasing here) that due to how these springs are designed there wouldn't be any settling. And I can confirm this being true. After measuring days, weeks, and months after install the height stayed the same.
I got my alignment done two weeks post drop with very little driving during that two week period.
Not sure if any of this is answering your question or not but thought I'd share nonetheless.
Bankerbry wroteI think your car came out looking great man. I have a 25 X5M on the way and I’d like to have your set up. You did the MSS urban Adjustable ride system with spacers?I wanted to post an update in this thread regarding my MSS springs.
I've been working with Ben at RG to try and determine why this didn't drop as much as either of us expected.
However, after checking & double checking all of the details I honestly think this may have been just my expectations being out of line.
I've analyzed before pictures and after pictures and now realize that my vehicle did lower almost 2" now after putting approximately 600 miles on the new springs.
In looking at a lot of other owners pictures on this forum, I expected the wheel gap to be slightly less than where mine ended up. At the end of the day these vehicles are set up high from the factory and there's only so far you can go without ruining the ride quality. (Shame on you BMW, nobody buys this to go off roading) 🤣
I have to say now that I've been able to process everything, I absolutely love this vehicle and am extremely impressed with the ride quality. The MSS springs actually smoothed the ride out slightly and this has been appreciated. In addition to that when I compare the look to a factory X5MC, I think it looks great. It also aligned very well.
Thank you to Ben for helping me trouble shoot and working with MSS to get measurements etc. His customer service went above & beyond, and I think it would be difficult to find someone more knowledgeable on BMW springs & mods.
Did you also need the UCA’s?

Yes, I went with the MSS with spacers and did not need UCA's.
I was really happy with the set up, but have also heard positive reviews on the H&R set up.
I wouldn't hesitate from reaching out to RG Sport. He is extremely knowledgeable on your options.
Keep us posted, would love to see some pics of yours when it's complete.

If you don’t mind me asking…. How’s the tire wear without the UCA’s?
Is it ok to do without the UCA’s bc the MSS doesn’t lower it too much?
AJDLAW wroteTire wear is comparable to the stock set up. I did have a thorough alignment done with the install of the springs. I used mine as a daily and could not have been happier. Occasional spirited driving, but not abusive. Thanks man! As soon as I get it dialed in I’ll def post some pics!

Are all 4 springs the same? I have just got my set through in the post opened the box & all 4 orange spings & all 4 small black spings are identical.
Thanks in advance.

Is it still the optimum settings zero thread on the front 5-10mm of threads on the rear?

Is there anything else I should do when fitting the springs like UCAs or bump stops etc...?
