22” Continental Premium Contact 6 A/S

Did anyone’s new X5 come with these 22” tires? Or did anyone buy them after the fact? They’re all season and presumably OE and one of the few tires available in our size.

They’re also run flats, although it isn’t that apparent from dealer’s websites. However, they are surprisingly not that expensive versus non-flat competitors. I’m just curious as to the noise and comfort level.

Are you sure they're A/S? PremiumContact6 on the Conti site in OEM sizes are not-R/F summer. Searching by size, it's show no matches.

Dangit, it happened again.

Oh well. In any case, I’m still curious how they are in regards to noise and comfort, especially since they are run flat.

Are you sure they are run flat? These came on my and the sticker lists them as non-runflat...

Yeah, it’s a little confusing. America’s Tire doesn’t list them as run flat, but it also listed them as all season so take that with a grain of salt.

If you go to Continental’s website, it states SSR, which is their version of “Run Flat.”

Go to the technology section. Do you see SSR on the sidewall? Also, does your car have a spare?

That’s why I’m curious how it rides. Are they noisy? Are they uncomfortable like most run flats? How does it compare to non run flats? I’m curious because the price is pretty decent and less than the OE Pirellis.

Mine came with a spare. I will go look a bit later for the SSR.

Ride isn't overly noisy or rough (except on certain types of roads, very textured). I am running 38 PSI front and 45 PSI rear. For me it is the expected level for a summer tire.

These are OE on mine.

That’s weird, but they don’t even list our size on Continental’s website per Auricom. I verified this, but America’s tire does list our size.

Husker, can you take pictures of the markings on your sidewall? I’m really curious what model those tires are. Something seems amiss, especially with the way America’s Tire classifies these tires versus what Continental does, especially the SSR run flat capabilities.

I checked and no SSR on the tire. I even went to TireRack and they have them as standard as well.

Picked up my MY22 40x with M Sport Brake last week with the 22inch tire option...

Confirmed that the tires given are the ones above - Continental Premium Contact 6 (non-run flat). Also confirmed (inside of driver door sticker) that the tire pressure is (amazingly (to me at least)), 38 psi front, 45 psi rear. I've only about 150 miles so far, but, I am hearing nothing but quiet (no drone/etc) and am so far pretty happy (after all the negative/concerning comments I've seen).

From the a UK 'Tyre' site - The new PremiumContact 6 replaces both the PremiumContact 5 and the SportContact 5, unifying the comfort and efficiency of the PremiumContact range, with the high performance, steering precision and grip of the SportContact.

For the winter setup - after going back and forth with BMW dealers and Tirerack, I went with Tirerack 20" package with the MSW wheel and the relatively new to the US Market, VREDESTEIN WINTRAC PRO. Always been a huge Blizzak fan...but, where I live and drive (Philly - I95 60 miles a day)...I think these will give me a little more/better life on the cold or wet pavement...and a little quieter. As I live near the Tirerack DE site, I can pick up and pay no sales tax, and a discount for picking up with them.

I had the 2015 X6 and it came with run flats. i did not have any issues with the comfort.

They are most definitely not all seasons. They are a " Grand Touring Summer" tire. I just switched mine yesterday for winter. It's not worth risking damaging the wheels or hurting yourself or anybody else on the road.

I can clear this up for this old post. I'm also running the Continental PrrmiumContact 6, and wondered if they were run-flats. Mine are not, but it is an option. Continental sells them in standard (mine), self-sealing (ContiSeal), and run-flat (SSR). You may have any one of these, and it should have the ContiSeal or SSR markings on the sidewall if applicable.
