AlexGT wroteDo you know how the shop put them on. Sounds like nothing needs to be removed? Looks great though!Old thread but this might be useful for someone that still is looking to install some dual exhaust tips on their 40i.
I've installed these on my 2025 LCI 40i M Sport. They were literally plug and play, no cutting, no soldering, no removing any piece from the rear bumper was necessary.

nycboy wroteJust waiting for Picture and feedback on how the installation was. ThanksInstall is tomorrow, Friday. We’ll see how install goes.
AdmirG07 wroteBeen busy at work and just got the tips installed today.Any feedback. Do you have a picture? I’d love to see how they look. Want to order a pair. Thx
Looks great but not an easy install. A few things the indy shop did:
1. Removed the rectangular trim (matte black) which i just got recently as part of the m performance exhaust install done by bmw.
2. Cut about an inch from the m performance exhaust so the tips won’t stick out too much (just enough to show the m logo on the tips).
3. Removed an inner plastic trim which screws portion of the heat shield. But heat shield is very secure and not going anywhere (we’ll see and find out, lol).

AlexGT wroteHow are these tips holding up? Wondering the same no idea how to get a wrench in there for tightening themSure, here it is:
Quad Exhaust Tip Compatible For BMW G05 X5 G06 X6 G07 X7 2019+ 30i 40i Muffler Tip Exhaust Tip Nozzle(Black B) https://a.co/d/cg2eni9
And sorry, but I didn’t install them myself, a shop did the job and it took them like 20 minutes to do so.
Ljn21 wroteReplying a couple years to late but, a very rare few g05 have a dual pipe in and out of the muffler, my 2019 has it was dealer installed, and 2020 and up m sport pro cars have the same exhaust but different style valve controllerI have seen a few threads about installing exhaust tips that fit inside the trapezoid openings in the 50i models but has anyone done this same type of thing with the 40i?
Not sure how to post pictures but here is one of the threads for the 50i models
https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1732018&page=4
The 40i models have a single exit pipe vs the dual on the 50i and it looks like the 40i single tip is actually oval at the tip and not round. I haven’t found any slip on or clamp on tips that have an oval inlet to fit that oval pipe. I am guessing one would have to cut off the oval part but I wasn’t sure that would leave enough straight round pipe left for the tip to grab into. I hate how you can see the stock tip inside the trapezoid bumper opening so easily stock, sticks out like a sore thumb.
Any other 40i owners find a way to fit a tip?

Had to remove the inner trim because the tips won't fit.

If in case still useful, the tips are holding up just great, no issues at all.
Mr. Stiver wroteLooks good! Do you have a link for the product? What was required on the install?I went with the Chinese ones from Amazon. Super easy to install.
Thx!
Prestocj wroteThey were super easy to install. Need to remove a shield or cover on each side, 7 or 8 hex screws. Slip the tips over the stock ones and tighten. Put the shields back on. I did it in my garage in about an half hour. Didn’t need to jack it up or put on ramps, just put down some cardboard to make it a little easier to move around.Looks good!
