For those with the Ikon lip, did it come with hardware and/or 3M double sided tape? And did the rear diffuser block the kick-to-open sensor for the trunk?

Thanks!

Mine came with self-tapping screws only.

The rear diffuser does not block the kick sensor.

EDIT: I did use 3M double sided tape during the install, highly suggest it.

Gloss black matches best. Looks great (ebay version) and fits well. Tough to install by yourself though!

That does look really good! How’s the fit and finish in person? How is the install compared to the OEM CF version?

Fit/finish is fine by my standards (med to high I suppose). It looks and feels exactly the same as the other gloss black pieces on the front.

I added a screw in the center of the lateral pieces and it looks great. Need to overdrill one side for the screw head/driver and smaller on the other. It did NOT come with double sided tape nor would I use that. So ... one factory bolt near the wheel well, screw just lateral to joint where the pieces bolt together and a screw at the center piece. I'm pretty handy with these things but I know everyone isn't.

Can't commend on the OEM CF version as I wasn't going to spend $2K+ for that. I'm sure it fits fine :)

Thanks for the feedback.

I’m so torn on which version to get. I’d love to stick with OEM for fit and finish purposes but I have zero CF on my X5 and just feel like the gloss black knock off versions would fit best given that it would match all the other gloss black with the X5.

I'm with you on being torn on which one to get.

Gloss black looks better than carbon to me unless you plan on adding multiple other carbon pieces.

I love the way the OEM(or knock-offs) splitter looks on either side but not to keen on the middle section.

Still leaning Maxton, but will patiently wait and see.

Here is one I bought on Amazon. I believe it’s the same style as Ikon but it was only $40 and included all the necessary mounting hardware. I thought it was too good to be true but it fit very nicely and looks great. Time will tell how it holds up.
I bought the same one at Amazon for that price too. The price was low enough to justify experimenting if it would fit XLine - and it did! :)

Here is a quick cell phone image. I suspect that many brand name splitters are being sourced from the same manufacturer and sold at many times higher cost.

I’ll chime in that given the head-on position of the front lip, be prepared for some type of marring or even damage. of course, it’ll depend on the quality and if you decide to protect it.

I purchased OEM M performance CF side mirror caps, and they delaminated after 2 years. pretty upsetting for the price. they were ceramic coated (though knowingly doesn’t protect from rock chips or dings). ppf trial failed due to their curvature (it was noticeably ugly)

if you can protect with ppf, all the better. if not, then gloss black is much easier to repair than CF (I replaced my side mirror caps with gloss black aftermarket ones)

that said, I’m glad I went with aftermarket ACS-style front lip. it’s still doing well after 3 years even without ceramic or ppf

Looks great. You mentioned tough to install by yourself....do you have any information you can share regarding the install, how it attached, difficulty if there are two people? Thinking about the same splitter. Thanks.

Not much to "describe". Uses factory bolts near wheel wells and screws in the center under the sensor plate that need drilled. I added another screw about half way to make it "tighter" to the body as I didn't want to use tape. It is very solid. Used jack stands to adjust and hold/fitting.

I had a shop install it while I was having wrap and ceramic done, so I can’t speak to install.

Quality seems fine to me, fitment is good and I don’t see anything off with it. No concerns here.
