I ordered the Bayoptiks set which is most likey the same ones being sold all over ebay. I figure paying slightly more by going with a US vendor gives me some protection from fraud and have warranty if these fail.

Been about a week and nothing has shipped yet even though they told me it was "in stock". Not off to a great start already but I'll keep everyone posted.

I actually hope that it doesn't pulse on and off like the LCI because i find it looking cheap and doesn't look like its LEDs when it does that.
If you look at the video (follow the link to bayoptiks) you can see a “running turn” like in an Audi

There is no such thing in BMW headlights; instead, BMW made a smooth (but fast) flare-up and fade-out (imitation of a regular lamp)

I like the "running" turn signal. I just don't like the pulsing on and off for the rest of the brake light because it looks like you have a weak incandescent bulb in there. BMW really needs to take a good look at Audi when it comes to lighting design.

If you are in the Los Angeles / Irvine California area, Bimmer Plug can order them and can install as well. I called them and confirmed that these are LCI taillights made for Pre-LCI BMW X5 G05. It's made to order though and can take a couple weeks to be ready for install. At least this is a local shop for some folks and can get some help if anything goes wrong.

Yes, it's possible. But everyone has their own tastes.
A running turn signal is unlikely to appear in a BMW because:
1) this is a patented technology of Audi
2) and most importantly, because BMW never follows other companies (despite the fact that BMW is the engine of progress)

I messaged few of those sellers and they said not work for US car if the signal color is red. Not sure if they mean regulation or what, language is definitely a barrier.

When they say "signal" they mean a turn signal. In America it is red and is usually combined with a brake light.

This copy of the lights was made for Europe, where the turn signal is a separate light and has an orange (or yellow) color.

But that’s the problem, will the wiring work with NAM?

In an American car there will not be a turn signal wire (the wire itself may be there, but it is used for the brake light), and it is possible that these lights in turn mode (when the brake light blinks) may not work correctly. More precisely, the seller or manufacturer of these flashlights will tell you.

I guess they told me it doesn’t work already. But if the wiring is there, does it mean that if we connect the pulsing signal for the turn signals to these aftermarket lights turn signal then it will work?

Yes, everything will work, but:
1) It is necessary to recode BDC to Europe (only rear lights)
2) It is possible to lay (if indeed not) a wire for the turn
3) Is it legal in the USA to drive a car with European turns?

1. I am not sure about that, maybe some coding experts can comment.
2. I think the 3 series did require to feed a separate wire to get the LCI taillights working, maybe the same for X5.
3. It is legal in the US to drive with Amber or Red turn signals based on DOT document.

I am sure about that. If this wire is present, then it turns on simultaneously with the brake light and then the turn will blink not only when the turn is on, but also when you press the brake light pedal (together with the red section of the stop light).

If there is no wire, then this channel will be completely disabled in the BDC, and it will have to be turned on using coding.

In the description the video shows the unlock feature. Hoping it does that. I’m pretty sure it does I can ask for a video clip from dubsesd.
It will be great if you can video of emergency lights flashing off the taillights so we can see the functions. I also shot you a message in instagram.

great find, I follow Lukas for years and somehow I missed his IG post about this upgrade!

I ordered a set from AOKEDING Official Store back in August but as I mentioned before they couldn't deliver.

I will probably try to contact them again and see if something has been changed but maybe little closer to the spring time.

still subscribed
