Jerry West passed away today at 86 years old. I used to go watch him play as a kid when he was playing for the LA Lakers. What a great time to be a kid watching the rivalry between the Lakers and the Celtics. During those years, the Celtics took home the championship most years, but the Lakers were fun to watch. My dad used to take us to Loyola when the Lakers practiced there. Jerry West and Elgin Baylor used to put on a show for the fans who showed up. Not the GOAT but a very good player. RIP Mr. West.

I was shocked when I heard this news this morning coming on the heels of Bill Walton. He was a good age but I didn't really consider him passing given how active he always seemed to be.

Out of my many favorite moment, his is long shot to take the game into OT in '70 stands out in my memory.

One more video and I promise to stop. Here's Jerry West just a few years ago explaining shooting to a bunch of kids. He said he hadn't shot a basketball in years. Pretty amazing for his age at the time.

IF someone were to go back and study all his game footage, drawing an imaginary 3-point line, where would he end up in the records book???

RIP
