Got a 25 X5 4.0 a few months ago. It has developed a driveline vibration that the Dealer cannot diagnose. Once the vehicle has warmed up (driven over 5-10 miles) it starts to shutter when decelerating from 35 to 25 mph and has a steady vibration when you hit 62 and up. Driving me crazy. I have had all 4 wheels rebalanced. Replaced the 2 rear tires because one tire had a hop, and could not be roadforced balanced correctly. Nothing has fixed this driveline vibration. IÂ’m in MN, and with our sub-freezing weather, it drives perfect until it gets fully warmed up. Sometimes takes a good 1/2hr or so of driving. Any ideas of why it would need to warm up to show the symptoms? 48V mild-hybrid system maybe??

If it is shuttering on deceleration and only happens after it’s warmed up, I would think it would be a warped brake rotor or something along those lines.

I appreciate that. It happens when you are coasting to a slower speed, not when the brakes are applied. Good guess….

I almost think it's engine/drivetrain related. Some bushing/silentblock/bearing under/over engine, transmission mount etc. Speed of 100km+ would suggest tire balancing problem - but you've already done that and is not temperature related. There are special machines that measure all wheels at once while moving. Only very few garages have this machine. This is what a "tire uniformity test" looks like:

Or, you can try to borrow another set of wheels (make sure they're balanced) and drive it a bit. Some tire dealer that stores customer's summer/winter sets might help.
Do an aligment as well, tires might "hop".

I actually replaced the 2 rear tires (out of pocket, BMW won’t cover tires under warranty) because one of them could not be road forced balanced. Still have the vibration. A Regional BMW drove it yesaterday along with a new one to see if it is abnormal. Still waiting on his results. It sucks because the Dealer just keeps telling me nothing is wrong with it and has not tried to fix anything. Really poor customer service.

Hello, have you managed to
Solve this issue? It seems I’m getting it in my
Car too.
