He got very restless late Tuesday night, so I took him to a nearby
24/7 Pet Emergency Center. To make a 48 hour story short, I had
to put him down yesterday afternoon. His blood numbers were off
the chart. Pancreatitis, fatty liver, adjacent tissues involved. The
vet offered a treatment plan that required 3 more days in the hospital
with iffy best outcome of insulin and blood tests for life. I couldn’t
put him through that. Vet said I made the right choice. My kitty
was about 16 years old. He was a stray I took in 4 years ago. I
really, really miss him. And my wife, too. She’s been in memory
care for 7 months now. House is too quiet…
So sorry to hear.

Maybe another kitty (so you’re not alone) is in your future…

A little orange and white kitty has been showing up outside my dining
room french door, balcony deck, every morning for breakfast for a few
weeks now. He’s very punctual - 6:00 AM, give or take 10 minutes.
Ravenous appetite. He then takes a bath, then off he goes. I usually
don’t see him until the next morning. This is how I often end up with
a new cat. 😀

My deepest symathies. I't is for the best, but it is such a painful best. When my time comes I could only hope for the same. as to skip out on the rough and futile medicals.

I'm so, SO sorry to hear this. My heart goes out to you.

I remember something my mother told me a very long time ago.

I was a little kid, and I asked why my kitty had to leave me.

Her response was that their little kitty hearts just beat too fast, so you have to show them as much love as you can while they're with you.

It was sort of a devastating thing to hear as a child, but it made me love *every* one of my kitties throughout my life.

Having been where you are-- you're going to grieve, and the loneliness and sadness will hit you at the oddest times. But, the Cat Distribution System will not let you be alone for too long.

I'll raise a drink in toast tomorrow when I get home.

Condolences, it’s good you didn’t make him suffer through all that. That’s love.

Almost had one less cat last night. He is cute as a speckled pup but wanting to play with our feet at 2 AM, then 3 AM, etc. Whoa. He was pushing the envelope I tell ya. Hope he outgrows this stage soon.'
