Maybe a fault code would need clearing, but recalibration can’t surely be necessary?
Recalibration is only necessary when the camera has been moved from its initial place - like in a windshield replacement situation.
Even in that situation, the recalibration fee does should NOT exceed $200.
Long story short, anything replaced in the steering wheel should not involve recalibration of the camera on the windshield. Hope this helps
mestguy182 wroteAny update on what you ended up doing? My lane keep assist and blind spot monitoring kept shutting off whenever I would go over the lane markers so I took my 2019 X5 into the dealer. They said the vibration generator in the steering wheel has gone bad and want $1162 to replace it. I can find the part for about $120 and there are plenty of videos showing how to get to it in the steering wheel since so many people replace their stock steering wheels. However, the estimate included a $565 charge to recalibrate the lane keep assist camera. When I asked about this they said when you replace a component of the system you have to recalibrate it to let it know a part was replaced. Is this BS? I have Bimmerconnect and can see the vibration motor fault and clear it; it comes back since the motor isn't working but would it come back if it was working? Has anyone ever done this replacement? Thank you!
