please see attached pics. i just placed the black to brown and red to red on the larger black wire harness. the video shows him using the maroon/purple harness. i tried that but the radar detector did not turn off after more than 5 minutes. maybe it would have taken longer i’m not sure. but, i can confirm that the radar detector will turn off if you hook up as described and pictured. this is for a 2026 X5M Comp.

thanks!
Hi, it looks like from your photo that the mirror tap black wire is plugged into the Brown/Black wire and the mirror tap red wire is plugged into the Red/Green wire. Is your photo correct?

2026 X5 and this method worked for me with my Uniden R1. I used red to red and black to black/brown. Basically the two outer wires. After locking and moving the key fob and phone away from the car, the radar shut off in around 3-4 minutes.

What do you guys do if your front windshield is tinted ? Still the Velcro or just the suction cup?

Mirror mount / radar mount.

Suction cup. Wish I don’t have the same dash cam so I could use a mirror mount.

I leave the key in mine all the time. I just hold the radio volume button to turn it off faster before walking way. It gets woken up sometimes when the other key gets near it, but it goes back to ‘sleep’, eventually. I haven’t timed it, but it hasn’t bothered the car.
