The 2026 FIA regulations will introduce MOM ("Manual Override Mode") as a replacement for DRS. This system will allow drivers to access extra electrical power (50%) from the MGU-K (Motor Generator Unit-Kinetic) when within a certain distance of a car ahead, promoting overtaking opportunities. The MOM will provide a 350kW boost up to 337kph, while the leading car's energy deployment tapers off after 290kph, reaching zero at 355kph.
The 2026 key-factor with the MOM will be like :
How fast can you recharge your huge battery to get the MOM max-power to overtake again ?
In hotter temps , very fast charging can overheat the huge battery . This means a very strong cooling system is required to avoid a battery fire (!)
The downside is the recharge time and that you have to wait with your MOM to overtake .
But during your MOM recharge time you can get a car behind you with full (100%) MOM power and you will lose your position again ...
The advantage of the electric power is much more torque coming faster out of the corners .
The active aero is very useful to get the car more planted at high speeds and in corners but also to brake as they work (probably) like brake flaps.

RIC's rear wing flew off the car . No rear wing = No downforce in the corner.
