I cannot believe that Georgia beat Tennessee, the TN kicker didn’t come through and Georgia was incredibly lucky. They have two weeks before meeting Alabama and they looked impressive today against Wisconsin.

Another loss for each of Notre Dame, Florida and Clemson. Big wins for TAMU, UGA and Ga Tech. USF’s early season Cinderella story has concluded (sitting through 1.5 hour weather delay in the stadium sucked BTW).

Gameday in Coral Gables next week for the first time since 2020. Canes need to take care of business vs. UF and not look ahead to the classic showdown in Tallahassee.

First 2 head coaching casualties of 2025 already - UCLA and Va Tech. Both off to awful starts.

I have a tailgate question for anyone who tailgates. Before the Notre Dame game, we saw someone secure their canopy by drilling something like a stake into the parking lot pavement, which presumably attached to the canopy. I wished I asked them about it and gotten a closer look.

Does anyone do this? If so, what do you use (a link would be great)? I saw some other holes in the pavement and figured this must be somewhat common. I'd like to get something so we don't have another canopy catastrophe like that game when weights on the legs were not enough.

I have never seen it but wouldn't that mess up the asphalt and start to develop cracks and such?

Back in my tailgating days we were on grass so planting a stake wasn't an issue though we usually found some sand bags on the tent legs was more than sufficient for us. Not sure the university folks are too happy about fans drilling holes in the asphalt but I suppose they would see it happening and say something if it was a problem.

We play at Hard Rock Stadium (where Dolphins play, not on campus). Parking is on grass/dirt but there are paved aisles to drive down, and tailgate area behind car is part pavement and part grass. Back legs of canopy are on grass/dirt and front legs are on pavement. Pic below gives you an idea. I think they repave these aisles fairly often.

We have always used sand filled weights, which are sufficient under most conditions. When we tailgated before the game vs. ND a massive storm rolled through with heavy rain and major wind gusts. We got drenched and lost one of two canopies that almost blew away and broke (fortunately saving the second one, which also almost blew away). We noticed someone drilled their legs down and their canopy was stable. We also noticed a bunch of holes in the paved aisles so figured this is normal.

I bought some 2" concrete screws and some stakes for the legs sitting on grass/dirt to try on Saturday.

Makes sense! I wish I could be down there for F1! I bet that place is buzzing then!

Best of luck this weekend!

Wasn't familiar with the parking situation... drill away!

With Clemson’s current malaise I am hoping for some really great games this season elsewhere like TAM Notre Dame that was exciting

Well, I guess I brought the wrong hardware because it would not penetrate the pavement… We got hit with major rain but not so much wind. Ended up missing 1/2 of the first quarter. But it ended up being a great game. Canes defense looks like a 180 degree turnaround from last year. Next up… FSU in Tally after a bye week.

Nice wins by Oklahoma, Indiana and Texas Tech (and Cuse) yesterday. Dabo hasn’t dealt with this level of adversity in a long time. Will be interesting to see what happens next at Clemson.

Dabo is a fantastic guy that truly cares about his players. He does his very best to prepare all of them for life not just football. The guy is loyal. His refusal to embrace the transfer portal and NIL money is not working. He might be better off riding into sunset like Saban and become an analyst.

Agreed, the game has changed and he either needs to adjust or move on.

I have such mixed emotions my kid went to Clemson and we want them to win so much and Dabo is such a great person…..

I understand. I’m an LSU guy but really like Dabo and Clemson, just not when playing LSU. I hope they let him stay and turn it around.

FSU ouch. See you next week.

It would be a heck of a buy out that is for sure. His comments have been very unhinged and rebellious the last few weeks. I’m very surprised he must be feeling then pressure.

Cheers to rivalry week! Bummed I won’t be in Tally this week.

Well we tried to make it interesting with an insane amount of victories but Miami still left Tallahassee 5-0. We’ll see how FSU responds to back-to-back losses.

Clemson got a win. Not sure what Belichick is doing in college football. Clemson - FSU should be interesting.

Bama seems to have gotten back on track. Penn State and Texas not so much.

If they respond by losing to Pitt this weekend, the "Do we fire Norvell? Who would we get to be the HC?" conversations from last year will suddenly appear on the administration's AD weekly status meeting agenda again......
