Ultimately I think once people go vegan they end up finding that well cooked vegan food can actually be pretty delicious and they end up losing the desire for the flavor/texture of meat, and I think that's why fake meat will never take off. Well cooked vegan food can be pretty f*ing spectacular. Too many people think "vegan" is just eating salads all the time... A well thought out vegan meal doesn't need meat for flavor/mouthfeel, it's already got those things...I don't understand vegans who want to eat fake meat.
I don't have an issue if you just want to eat veges that's great.
But don't judge me if I want to drive a 5 cylinder that has fake V10 sound from the speakers! It's because I can't afford a V10!

vege eaters who swear not to touch meat wanting to eat fake meat products, that's a bit suspicious. though i admit it's difficult to draw a line on what is fake meat product and what's not.
i consider almond milk for example, to be fake milk. non meat patties, to be fake meat patties. i guess it comes down to intention. some are truly allergic to cow milk but want a good coffee. but others may have their own opinion on this.
