Report: Apple hoping to announce F1 streaming deal at the upcoming US Grand Prix.

"ESPN is giving up its US broadcast rights for Formula 1 at the end of the 2025 season. Apple would take over, presumably offering F1 as an add-on through the Apple TV app."

it sounded like F1TV would remain in the US still. Which is good, because I have zero desire to pay for another streaming service...

From the article I read this..."Apple — who would be paying upwards of $150 million a year for the rights — wants streaming exclusivity and therefore F1.TV to be shuttered in the region."...and thought differently.

Sadly in Australia we are stuck with Sky until 2029. I can’t watch F1 TV as it is blocked and am forced to use their terrible(and expensive) app to watch F1. Having it on Apple TV would be fantastic. Jealous.

honestly F1 Prem is a scam too, you need Apple TV for the 4K resolution lol.

"Over the United States Grand Prix weekend in Austin, Apple and F1 management officially announced that they had agreed to a five-year deal to bring the series to the tech giant's streaming platform Apple."

"The Apple contract means the existing F1 TV service will disappear as a standalone app in the US, but F1 TV Premium will instead be folded into the regular Apple TV subscription, which costs $12.99 per month, at no extra cost."

https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/apple-tv-f1-us-broadcast-rights-landmark-five-year-deal/10768225/

"F1 TV Premium, the league’s own content offering that’s popular with racing fans, will continue to be available in the U.S. but will now require an Apple TV subscription. Once a customer subscribes to Apple TV, F1 TV Premium will be included in their Apple subscription rather than as a standalone offering."

Most of the F1TV subscribers won't like to pay for another streaming service.

Got this doublespeak through email this morning, from what I can tell, F1TV will go poof right after the AbuDabi GP finishes, but you’ll be able to get it on AppleTV for the next season. Somehow this feels 10x more complicated than it needed to be.

Apple made a bit of a better job of it here: https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2025/10/apple-is-the-exclusive-new-broadcast-partner-for-formula-1-in-the-us/

Got the same message. It says you will be able to buy F1 TV Access in the US which from what I understand means you will be able to watch the races, just not live.

Hope they keep the same Commentators but I'd fire Crofty and replace him with Karun!!!

PLEASE, no Danica, She is pretty but not much else.

I'll turn the sound off if Villeneuve gets hired :sigh:

Sadly David Hobbs is probably too old but Steve Matchett is only 62.

Jenson Button would be cool :cool!:

Maybe Bob Varsha?

Who's on your wish list?

I think it’s going to be the same team as F1TV….there was an IG exchange with Laura Winter suggesting that she was going to stay with the same crew including Ruth Buscombe et al, no idea what that means for the Crofty/Brundle situation, but I’ve kinda switched over to Brundle junior, Coulthard and co. I couldn’t take the Crofty any more.

I can't stand Apple. :mad0260:

They didn't "give up" anything. They were outbid.

CNBC reported that Apple is paying $700 million over five years for the rights, while The Athletic reported ESPN would not “budge” from its $90 million annual offer.

I completely understand if you're not in the Apple ecosystem like me.

Most all of their Apple Original content is woke garbage.

I was away on the weekend and had to experience an LG smart TV. Good god. It was a form of torture.

Apple TV box is so cheap it is nearly free. Plug it into your screen and you’ve got a high quality 4K box, superb digital sound and the best user interface ever on a TV and it supports all the streaming services via native apps.

Having said that you can still access Apple TV content on any of those horrifying in built “smart” TV systems.

I pay about $40 a month to watch F1 in Australia and have to use an unstable app that seems to be designed to cause swearing.

Getting F1 for free on an Apple TV subscription sounds pretty damn good to me. I bet the user experience will be fantastic.

Get a VPN and watch F1 live from whichever country is showing it free to view.
This year use the French-speaking Belgian online channel called Auvio (From the Belgian TV channel RTBF).
Races are available to watch live or recorded.

LG is torture!!!!!:mad0260:

Finally replaced my 2018 with a new Sony and couldn't be happier. I also use and swear by AppleTV and all their products except for HomePods. Siri is SO STUDID. But in all fairness Siri is a home assistant not a smart AI hub like lady A or Google. Rumor has it they are in talks to use Google or ChatGTP.

Varsha, Hobbo, Matchett, and V10s.

I gave up my F1TV subscription, I just catch the highlights on YouTube now. I love F1 but the current cars are absolutely dreadful. The FIA and Liberty have ruined it for me. I can't watch Sky, Crofty makes me want to jump out of a window.
10-23-2025
I doubt it will make much difference for me. I can rarely actually sit down and watch a race all at once. I have to pause and play them all week when I get a few minutes in the garage for a smoke. I reckon the F1 tech channel will be F1TV only?
11-12-2025
LOL. Complaining about "another streaming service" when that is exactly what F1TV is. You're paying $70ish per annum already. Sure, AppleTV would cost $155, but you get all the other content as well.

Some people just like to complain I suppose.
