Traded in my X4 B48 to X5 B58

Finally! Took a over a year and many hours searching for my picky desired spec locally - ( a pre owned low mile Manhattan Green M-sport with 742m black 22” 315 wide wheels, No front plate install, No dry wood or strange interior trim, black or dark brown interior, factory warranty, No tow hitch rear bumper, No laser headlights with unmatching blue bezel) kind of my unicorn…but I got it!

-2022 X5 40i xDrive m-sport
-Manhattan Green Metallic
-Coffee vernesca interior
-742m Black staggered 22” wheels
-18k miles
-10 months remaining factory warranty

Completed:
-Front window matching tints
-Stage 2 paint correction
-Ceramic coating 5 yr IGL Kenzo + windshield and wheel faces
- Full interior detail including ozone treatment
-Powder coated gloss black oem exhaust inserts
- Sunvisor warning labels covered with precut matching matte black vinyl
- Bimmercode setups to my preference
-Opened exhaust valve pull fuse method
-Reset EGS adaptations (shifts felt strange from my previous owner driving style and mine)

To do:
-Windshield tint
-Gloss black vinyl on mirror caps
-Replace both interior a-pillars (light scratches)
-IND Gloss black rear emblem badges
-Replace both gloss black exterior “fog” light trims (original has marks)
-Remove hard water stains on exterior glass
-Cigarette outlet caps
-Matching black tire valve stem caps
-Possibly m rear roof spoiler (feels corny on a 40i tho)
-High flow dry air filter (FTP,Dinan,aFe)
-Race Chip piggyback tune

More to come…

Looks great, looking forward to seeing your future mods!

I've been thinking about doing the exhaust inserts, I need to make that a priority!

Thank you..yea it really cleaned up the rear end. No easy task removing them but it can be done without removing the rear bumper. I followed a diy in the X7 threads and worked with my mechanic to get them out.

You Manhattan Green people need to stop posting pics. That color looks soooo good. Really making me second guess my Black Sapphire choice.

Really nice looking and tasteful mods. I think I need to get my exhaust inserts powder coated like that. Mine has the new “improved” unpainted ones that really detract from the black theme.

Thank you..haha join the MGM club I’ve notice the color has gotten even more popular with the newest LCI X5. For sure gloss black exhaust inserts will compliment your already all black theme. You can hit them with the rattle can..I just couldn’t spray paint my vehicle without it feeling cheaper lol

Finally had the windshield tinted 35% and decided to have the oem mirror caps vinyled in gloss black. Coded a cool ambient lighting yellowish-green to match inside outside..Some quick pics

Very nice BimmerXdrive's user avatarBimmerXdrive! On the rear M spoiler which one are you considering? I'd agree the M Performance spoiler looks out of place on a 40i but the rear upper spoiler that's stock on the X5MC looks killer. It's more subtle and isn't loud and says "look at me". I think it also balances out the rear end from the side profile as the middle part of the rear hatch looks like it has a hunch back and the X5MC spoiler helps reduce that bloated look.

On the black badging you can get the X5 badge in black from a dealer at a discount. Just get the X5 emblem that's available on the M60 or what I did was ordered an X5MC emblem in black and just used the X5 part of it. The font is a little different but I personally like it better. I did go with the IND black sDrive emblem though and yes they are expensive.

Are the exhaust inserts hard to remove? I think I want to powder coat mine as well.

Thank you man. As for the rear spoiler, I agree the only one to consider is the X5M/Comp oem rear spoiler. Completely transforms the rear end. Just not sure if I want to look like I’m trying to be a higher trim then I have. I would paint match to the body color. I have seen some guys have it fully gloss black but doesn’t flow that well imo. Here’s a link to thread with install and part number for reference. https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1780927

The badging I will do same exact as my oem 40i font style just gloss black. The M50/M60 badges are a different font ( block lettering) which signifys the V8 engine. I’m kind of against “up badging” vehicles. So I’ll stick to the original style. I’ve read that all the gloss black 40i badge kits seems to have the xdrive badge smaller then the original on 40i. Working on find one closer in correct size other then IND. Regardless thank you for the suggestion

The exhaust inserts are bit of a pain. Accessing the 3 bolts blind with not much room for wrenching is only half of it. Once the bolts are off releasing the holding clips is a bit of effort without causing damage also. The mechanic i have said he can do it no problem then switched his tone after he started. I got hands on and helped along with using this install thread from the X7 forums. Take a look at the link and if you feel up for the challenge lol. https://g07.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1736184

99% of X5 owners won't even notice the spoiler or the different font of the badges but I totally get it. Thanks for the link on the exhaust inserts. Think I'll pass on that project.
