I am just curious, has anyone that owns lesser model than M50/60i considered changing their stabilizer bar to a thicker one from M60i to gain better stability and less roll in the corners?
In Russia there are a few posts of people being quite satisfied with their upgrade and that prompted me to do the same. I bought stabilizer bar 33556870711, which is the thickest passive bar from G05 lineup and it is already waiting in the garage to be installed when I have some time.

I will report back with my opinion on the upgrade and I hope it will improve the roll and stability on my air suspension X5. m4GasIDMoTOqsCcl6VvT4KroVC0-960.jpg

I have the exact same one as you! On paper/dimensions it seems a small difference but I am curious how much can be felt while driving spiritedly.

Good choice on upgrade. Sway bar is the si or most cost effective way to improve corner handling while not giving up much comfort level at all. You will change the car’s dynamic a bit. My guess is you will have less under steering as well. Please keep us updated with your experience

Well as you said already, the cheapest and the easiest thing to do. Reducing of the understeer is a plus in my book as it makes the car feel livelier. Will do!

TheWatcher's user avatarTheWatcher, just curious if you ever had a chance to install this piece? It seems that every site specifically states this bar is not for the air suspension, but I truly cannot discern a difference in shape (outside of the slightly larger diameter). Just curious if it does indeed bolt right into place?

Unfortunately not yet, but I hope I will get it installed this week. I am aware of it not being compatible with air suspension but I guess the incompatibility statement is just because the X5 does not come from the factory with the thickest stabilizer. Something like 23" wheels, we all know it can be done, but not from the factory, so "not compatible".

Russians have done it and nobody had issues. So I don't expect to have any as well. The only difference is the thickness, shape and stabilizer links length are the same. Will report back as soon as I get it installed. Trust me, I am very anxious to get it done ASAP:D

Excellent! Thank you! I'm eager to see your results as well as any comments on the difficulty of the installation. Do you happen to know if different bushings/brackets are needed to accommodate the larger bar? From what I can see, the same part numbers are utilized across all versions of the passive bar, but figured it was worth confirming with you as you've done far more research on the topic.

You are welcome, thats what forums are for! I just hope the results will be noticeable enough that I can call it an upgrade.
From what I have read it should take a proper mechanic with a lift around 30 minutes to swap the bars. Bushings are definitely different because of bigger bar diameter but can't say about the brackets. I bought it as a set online and in 95% of adds that is the case.

Posting to stay updated. Looking forward to an update.

Will update you in 7 days! My mechanic was sick and we had to make another appointment for the 7th of April. I'm looking forward to some improvements as well.

Here we go. The stabilizer bar was installed yesterday and I decided to test the ride for a day before I post anything.

The swap was done by a mechanic and he said it was an easy job that took him around 30 minutes.
While commuting in the city I didn't notice anything different and ride comfort stayed the same. The slight difference can be felt when you enter the corner a bit more aggressively or at higher speed out of town in longer turns. The car stays flatter and more composed. Emphasis is on flatter, not flat! The improvement is not massive but just enough to call it an upgrade. Still not a sports car. Since the part and installation were not expensive, I would say it was worth it.
Since my car came from the factory with stabilizer bar 6893547-02 I had little to gain. But if your car has one with smaller diameter you should feel quite an improvement. Just to be clear, my car has air suspension.

Now my last two things I will try to improve is better front grip that I will try to get with more front and rear camber, and stiffer suspension in sport setting that should be possible with coding. Might lower it in sport as well to gain even more stiffness.

Amazing!!! Fantastic information! So, what diameter was your OEM bar? Mine is 29.2 but has a different number than what you posted above. Either way, fantastic stuff and thanks for taking the leap and keeping us posted.

Mine was 29.0x3.5mm and the new one is 30.0x4.3mm. No major difference in size but enough to be felt. No problem, I do it to fix the cars performance as it frustrates me that I bought a soccer mom car and I know it could be way better. In the past it was known who the BMW buyer was but I guess not anymore.
