Plenty of people think that Ai and/or robotics will eliminate most or all work as we know it.
The people I know in software development think it is overhyped. So far, I’m seeing incremental search engine improvements, but I’m still going to an attorney for important documents, or litigation. And as much as I dislike them, I’ll still go to a doctor for medical needs.
A guy on X named Brian Rommelle (I think) says we have about 5000 days until the end of the transition.
No one explains how humanity works (politics or economics especially) without work. We are a competitive species accustomed to gathering and holding (hoarding) resources. The future forecasts from the Ai crowd do not account for that.

I get many reports from my international colleagues and often, there are weird word usage and grammar issues when it comes to what my US-based client expects to read. I imagine many of these reports are written in the native language and then the translate button is pushed. Reviewing these reports takes me a LONG time to get things consistent. I've tried to use CoPilot to conduct a review of the report for US English grammar and reporting consistency. It is utterly trash with its "review". Useless. Not even close to what I have to do and in many cases, it makes the report worse and also makes some hilarious assumptions/edits. I've also tried it with US reports written by US auditors and its review is terrible too, at least in terms of how the report needs to read for my client and legal and regulatory purposes.
That being said I'm not too familiar with co-pilot or how most large enterprises are setting up their systems.

I'm rather old fashioned; I believe people should have to work and have a job or career for a sense of worth and to help society. I do not believe taking advantage of people by making them sleep overnights in their offices (Musk) or making them work a 40 hour job a week and then not paying them enough to live is sustainable nor healthy.Humans need purpose to function properly in society, way too many people think that doing nothing would be a dream when in reality it’s a form of hell

It was the first time many people were able to not kill themselves with a long stressful day etc. People emptied the animal shelters, they got out to see the state and national parks because they had the time, they finally got a taste of some life outside the rat race and they liked it.
Now it seems we are back to the same old grind where we work our whole life just to hope to retire and not lose our life's work to a nursing home. That's not a quality life; it's madness and one traumatic health issue away from bankruptcy.

When it was realized that life wasn’t destined to be a holiday, the animal shelters filled up again, because people made bad choices, not thinking long term and satisfying short term urges instead
Problem is that people want “things” and don’t necessarily want to put in the effort to get them the right way, paying cash. They spend foolishly with the help of credit cards, borrow and finance and the endless trips around the hamster wheel commence. I call this a choice
Fall into that trap and yes, you may be exploited by an employer. Was anyone chained to their workstation? No
Could you quit and go somewhere else? Yes, if you didn’t make foolish choices and lived below your means… but that’s no fun
I’m definitely oversimplifying a bit…. but tell me that you don’t know anyone that’s made poor financial decisions that are dragging them down to this day, my neighbor was a finance manager for a boat store once, 90% of boats between 100 & 400k were financed, most over 25 years. That was their “normal”
During covid the vast number of people taking advantage of the VAST number of social programs found time on their hands and began looking for problems that didn’t exist. People with jobs and purpose weren’t part of this social injustice war
