I’m considering upgrading the wheels on my 2019 BMW G05 X5 M Sport. The vehicle currently has the factory 21-inch 741M staggered setup, and I’m looking to move up to a 22-inch staggered configuration.

I’ve been looking at the TSW Aileron in 22", which TSW lists as compatible with the G05 chassis. However, the specs differ slightly from the OEM 22" staggered setup, so I wanted to get some opinions before moving forward.

Front:
OEM – 22x9.5 ET37
TSW Aileron – 22x9 ET37

The Aileron front wheel is slightly narrower but keeps the same offset, which seems like it shouldn’t cause any issues based on what I’ve seen on wheel-size.com.

Rear:
OEM – 22x10.5 ET43
TSW Aileron – 22x10.5 ET38

The width is the same, but the offset is 5 mm lower than OEM. Wheel-size.com mentions this would push the wheel outward and change the scrub radius by about 6 mm, which could potentially affect handling.

My main concern is whether this rear offset difference could cause any real-world issues such as rubbing, clearance problems, or noticeable handling changes.

For those familiar with the G05 platform, would this setup still be considered safe and practical, or is it better to stay closer to the OEM 22" offsets?

Appreciate any feedback or firsthand experience before I go ahead with the upgrade.

No issues with fitment, but aesthetically losing .5" in the front will otherwise bring your front wheel inward by 5.5mm, which in tandem with the rear becoming 5mm wider in the rear may just not look pleasing to the eye.

Do you not have any other options available for this wheel? What are your goals for the setup?

I recently also upgraded to 22s on mine, and went with a 22x11 +15 square setup. Rear fitment is flush, but front is poking out about 7mm beyond the wheel arch.

I am planning on running Hamann extended fenders to solve for this, but if I were sticking with the stock wheel arches I'd probably step down to 10.5 in the front at +21 and run a staggered offset.

There's plenty of room for you to go wider and extend the offset out, and it really depends on what look you're going for.

That’s a good point about the visual balance between the front and rear. I didn’t initially think about how the front being ~0.5" narrower would pull the outer edge in about 6 mm while the rear offset would push the wheels out around 5 mm.

My main goal with this setup is to keep an OEM+ look without introducing rubbing issues or needing spacers or fender modifications. From a fitment standpoint it seems like the specs should still be within a safe range for the G05, but I can see how the front might end up slightly less flush compared to the rear.

I’ll check if there are any other offset options available for the Aileron that are closer to the OEM front width, but if not it sounds like it would still work—just slightly more tucked up front than stock.
