Hi all

I'm looking to do the X5M spoiler mod on my G05 X5. I've got quotes from a BMW dealer at £400 for the spoiler primed. After paint etc. it works out quite alot...

Has anyone successfully found a good quality rep? I really want the OEM+ look but in carbon fibre finish if possible.

Thank you!

Bought OEM part from online and had local body shop paint it. If I recall correctly, I was all in around $650.

That's a great price...as stated by others, my IND one that came painted was about $930 after taxes and shipping etc.

Here is the eBay X5M replica spoiler installed on my 2022 X5. It came gloss black, but I had it painted Phytonic Blue to match. There were some imperfections in the spoiler that needed to be sanded/filled prior to paint, so it's not what you'll get with an OEM part, but I think the fitment is great.

It was a pain to install, but I knocked it out in an hour one night after work by myself. You'll have to manipulate it to get all of the tabs to line up with the holes, but it's definitely doable. I think I put it on and took it off 6ish times before I could get the holes to line up. I ended up cutting off the tab you see in other threads towards the end, which definitely helped.

Went with IND Dist painted x5m.

I like to be unique, so I have a small gap above the center brake light

I sawed off those 2-3 'bumps' and it fit flush. It didnt affect the install in any way. I think there were 3 of them. Mine was from IND as well christwinzbmw's user avatarchristwinzbmw

On the lid or brake light side? I think the brake light had 2 tabs?

How much did y'all spend to have it painted? I'd like to shop around but no idea what's reasonable for something like this. My M50i is Arctic Gray...not sure if that's annoying to paint match or not

I have a rear spoiler from maxton design that resembles the x5m spoiler somewhat. I havent installed it yet but now am thinking of getting it paint matched. The only issue is my x5 is an individual colour, Malachite Green Metallic. I wonder if its issue to find body shops that will be able to paint it that colour. Would I have to special order that paint myself from somewhere else and provide it to the body shop to have them paint it? Not sure how the process works

No. A body shop can get the paint code or do a custom color match from a part of your car. You do not have to source the paint yourself.

I had an Autotecknic X5M and fitment was OK but not great. Snagged a used one off this forum and had a buddy paint it Phytonic Blue for me for $100 and a 6 pack, ceramic coated it myself and love it. I think I am $350 into it.

Same! It fit so much better after doing so.
