Hi All,

Experiencing a weird issue with my 2021 X5 with 57k miles - every time it rains and I use the automatic wipers, I get an orange error that says “auto wiping and lighting system malfunction”. The wipers and lights continue to work seemingly as normal with the only exception being the green indicator on the stalk turns off with each sweep of the wipers.

Dealer says this is “normal” but I can’t imagine it would be. An LCI loaner did not have this issue.

The windshield and gel pad were replaced by BMW at 17k miles by the previous owner - all original parts as expected.

Has anyone seen this before?

Thank you!

Gathered some more info here - I get the codes below:

C95514 - wiper speed: communication failure
8041BF - rain light sensor: signal implausible
804487 - RLS, rain sensor: not measured on the pane
E05622 - wiper - signal invalid

I dug through the car’s history and it looks like BMW actually replaced the windshield for the previous owner and used a new gel pad for the sensor.

Could they have missed the sensor calibration? Does anyone know if bimmerlink or bimmercode can initialize/calibrate the sensor?

Thank you all!
