Does anybody have an explanation why exhaust would only be flowing on the drivers side of my X5 40i? I never noticed before but it appears to only be coming out of one side at startup and idle. Something to do with exhaust flap maybe? I drove around 40 miles and checked it after the drive and still the same. Put my hand over the pipe on the right and definitely nothing blowing. Thanks in advance.

You are correct, the exhaust flap is generally closed most of the time, opens up partially when put in sports mode or when accelerating. There are a few exhaust flap controllers that are plug and play and can open the exhaust flap fully. I had the sst https://x-ph.com/sst-exhaust-flap-control-suitable-for-bmw-x5-40i-x-40ex-45ex-type-f15-g05-yoc-from-2015/ one but there are a few others out there like 11mode.https://x-ph.com/11mode-bmw-x5-g05-exhaust-controller/?searchid=0&search_query=x5+G05

Thanks. My exhaust had to be replaced because of a rattle / bad weld and I was thinking they screwed it up somehow some way. It could use a little rumble maybe I’ll grab one of those controllers.
