Have a freinds F95 X5M that I am working on. The extended leather dash is in horrible condition with leather peeling up and shrinking. Super common on bmw leather dashboards.

Removing the Dashboard is relatively easy if you have experience working with bmw interiors and their clips. Basically just a bunch a t20 screws and clips.

Sourcing a used G05 X5 dash from a non m with extended leather. To my knowledge the leather is slightly different but not a big deal.

They have different part numbers between g05 and f95 dashboards however the f95 dashboard I removed says g05/g06 all over it.

Will report back if the fitment works out.

Side note: i am experiencing a weird engine noise coming into the cabin when ever touching the gas in the slightest. Never experienced this noise on the x7 50i or f90 m5s so not sure what is causing it. Drove the car around with the dashboard removed and still hear the sound. I have stuffed sound absorbing and deadening material behind the dash in an attempt to quick the noise.

Any one else experience weird noises coming through the dash?

How long did it take to pull? I have a scratch in my leather that I'm contemplating fixing.

Sourced a black extended leather G05 dash with the hud and driver glove box. Dash looks amazing and has no peeling or damage.

Fit perfectly onto the f95 x5m. Mounted just like the f95 dash. Had to switch over the bowers speaker on the center of the dash and swap the wire harness. Didn’t bother switching the airbag as they where the same part on both dashboards

The leather is a different type/material/quality than the original X5m dash but has the exact same stitching on the upper portion. It is missing the stitching on the lower section.

This is still an OEM extended leather dashboard. It is the same material and quality that comes on some f90 m5s. Matches well with the rest of the f95 interior.

Ended up using the original driver and passenger glove box with the different leather. Still looks good and matches but you can feel the higher quality of the glove boxes when touching them.

Dashboard cost about $600 and that was the only part we needed. Definitely a great and cost effective replacement.

I have some experience working on bmw interiors and this took me about an hour and a half to get out and then maybe 2 hours to get it all back together.

Definitely wasn’t hard to do and this was my first dashboard. Just a bunch of clips and t20s. Removing the clips holding the wiring harnesses to the dash is the biggest pain.

I followed a YouTube video on removing the dashboard on a blue f96 x6m and it was the same. I had ISTA to follow also but the video had everything.

Did this job (with assistance) in my E93 M3 to swap in a fox red extended leather dash. Not difficult, but lots of T-20 screws and clips. You just need to take your time, especially with all the wire harness clips.

Is it easy to scratch anything during the removal process if the dash? That’s a very intimidating job for real!

Nothing really to scratch unless you stab the dash with a screw driver or pick tool.

I put a towel over the center console to prevent me from scratching the center console. Also just go slow when moving the dash out of the car and watch the doors so you don’t hit the dash on the door and scratch the door leather.

Really isn’t a bad job at all. Definitely worth tackling your self versus going to a dealer and paying thousands. Honestly took me maybe an hour and a half to get out taking my time.

Hi.

Where do you source the second dash. Mine is shrinking from the Florida heat and I might have to do this job soon. Any help is appreciated thanks.

Purchased the dash from Carisma M&P in Jacksonville. Found them from a listing on eBay. If your in the Gainesville area I can help out with the job.

Thanks for the info. I’m in Broward but once I’m ready to do this I’ll check YouTube and might ping you here to pick your brain if I get stuck 😎.

Thanks again.
