Hi all,

I have a 2020 7 seater diesel X5 M Sport.

My front brakes make a horrendous sharp high pitched screech when coming to a stop at slow speed. The brake pads were only changed last year - I took the car to the garage said they said the pads still have at least 12k miles on them but they chamfered the rotors as apparently there is a 'slight lip which can catch'.

Long story short, it was fine for a few days but is back again and it's really quite bad. I took it back to the garage yesterday and they said as it's getting on in miles and M Sport brakes are notorious for squeaking, the next step would be changing the discs and pads. It was a hefty quote and having seen full step by step videos on Youtube, it's definitely work I am happy to do myself.

The issue is that I cannot for the life of me, get certainty over what brake pads and discs I need to get. When I put my number plate into GSF or Eurocarparts it shows a bunch of 'suitable' products but then some items clearly state 'not for M Sport models' or 'not for 7 seater' and I've now got zero confidence that what I pick is correct for my car. I'm likely to replace the vehicle in the next year so at this stage I just want a standard set of front discs and brake pads (and sensor wire of course) to get rid of this horrendous noise! Anyone able to enlighten me?

Thanks!

You can just change the pads and you should be good for a year. Mine did the same, was ok for a year and then the noise came back. Even 7-8 hard breaking attempts from 100-10mph worked for just a few days. Try searching on Realoem.com, you should find the correct part number for your car if you search by VIN number.
