Hi everyone,
I’d like to suggest a small but very useful improvement for the forum.

It would be great if we could paste images directly into a thread or a private message using something like CTRL+V, without needing to manually upload the file first. This would make it much faster and smoother to share photos, especially when discussing cars, troubleshooting, or showing examples.

I’ve also noticed that when clicking “Submit message”, it sometimes takes a moment before anything happens — and I’ve accidentally sent the same message multiple times because of the delay. I assume the admins are already working on this, as I read something about it in another thread, but I still wanted to share my experience and thoughts.

Thanks for keeping the forum running and continuously improving. Just wanted to contribute with some feedback.

Wish you all the best

Hi, these are great suggestions and I’ve been working on a new forum software that does both these things to some degree. From your username I’m assuming your are on the 5series forums so the new software hasn’t made it to those sites yet but I’m thinking it will in about a month time.

You can still try the software out on one of the other sites, for example https://www.e90post.com/beta

You don’t have to submit a post but you can try the editor and see if it’s better for what you were thinking. It doesn’t do the specific CTRL-V you were mentioning, but it does allow for drag/drop of images. I could probably add CTRL-V as well, but it’s not a workflow I ever use so I’d love to hear your feedback on how it is now and then what the workflow is. Essentially if you are pasting from keyboard where would you be copying the image from usually?

Ps if you notice more things or have more ideas feel free to post them up as this is a work in progress abd im adding new things in daily 👍

Hi Apptest!
Thanks a lot for your detailed reply — really appreciate that you’re actively improving the platform.

I tested the beta editor on the link you shared, and I actually posted in page 338 of the “Post a new picture you took” thread:
https://www.e90post.com/beta/showthread/909340/post-a-new-picture-you-took/page/338

There are big improvements already. The editor feels smoother, more modern, and the posting experience is much better. I’m really looking forward to seeing this new software rolled out to the 5‑series section as well.

Regarding the CTRL+V workflow:
It’s actually very important for many users, including me. My typical workflow is:

I take a screenshot (Snipping Tool on Windows)

The image goes directly to the clipboard

I return to the forum and press CTRL+V

The image appears instantly in the post without saving it as a file first

This is extremely fast when sharing error messages, diagnostic screenshots, cropped images, or quick snapshots from the phone. Drag‑and‑drop works great, but clipboard pasting is even faster when the image is already copied.

If you’re able to add support for pasting images directly from the clipboard, that would be a huge improvement for everyday posting.

I’ll keep testing the beta and share more feedback as you continue developing it.

Great work so far

Ok I've added CTRL-V support now, try it out and see what you think of it. If it's not working for you, you might have to refresh your cache to get the latest change. to do that you can hold shift and click on the refresh icon in the url bar (or instead of shift can also try ctrl, option, command)

Is there any way to stop the multiple e-mail notifications from the new forum (G01/G02)? Instead of just one e-mail when a subscribed thread has a new post since last visit to that thread, the new forum sends an email for every single new additional post. I've had to unsubscribe from threads just for that reason since one them had sent 8-9 emails to me instead of just the initial one.

Ok I made some changes to the email structure, see if it does a better job for you now. Also in your subscriptions list there are 3 dots to the right, over there you can further set email time notifications so that you only get the email once a week or month, etc..

Hi apptest,

It works perfectly now.
For example — here’s a part on my car that has a crack in it. I just copied the image and pasted it straight into the reply box. Really smooth and easy.

I even tested it on my phone, and uploading images works there as well. Really convenient.

I also posted this thread regarding an issue I have with my car:
https://www.e90post.com/beta/showthread/2241218/bmw-decoupling-element

So the feature seems to work perfectly on both desktop and mobile.
