I installed my MAD secondaries this evening with mixed feelings.

I’ll start with the bad:

This appears to be more of a quality control issue, but the kit did not come with enough bolts as it only had one pair for the secondaries to mid pipe and a pair of longer bolts that may go from MAD primaries to secondaries. They can be used for the other bank I suppose, but I don’t like the fact that they are not uniform.

The piping is too large to properly secure a socket or wrench on the flange nut. The downpipe is roughly 3.25” in diameter, but that leaves little space to use a socket or wrench. Take a look at the pics because I had to get really creative to get that secured and I’m not confident it is tight enough. We’ll find out after a few heat cycles. I’m referring to the right/passenger side. The left side was fine.

No heat shielding. I was going to use some aluminum heat shielding but due to the lack of space, I’m going to do exhaust wrap instead.

The good:

Overall fitment was good. All bolt holes lined up perfectly and the length was spot on.

Welds and stainless steel look great!

The sound did not dramatically change. It is throatier than before and I can hear the turbos from the outside a bit. Mind you I do have the Dinan mid-pipe and axleback. It sounded aggressive before, but now even more so.

There is drone at around 1600rpm when I drove through a parking lot. The drone is gone during city and highway driving.

There is no rasp to speak of, which is a relief because I do not like raspy exhausts. Start up is noticeably louder, but nothing dramatically louder while driving. Just like I was told in my previous post, the exhaust note will not change for the worst.

Aside from the problem flange nuts, the install is simple. I put the front end on ramps and got it done in around 2 hours, even with the issues.

I’ll get some start up and revving vids in the morning for comparison.

Anyway you can post a vid out of the garage of the sound once high idle kicks off?
