Been meaning to post about this. I have a 22 X5 40i with the adaptive LEDs and I got NGHB coded on about two weeks ago. Drive a lot of dark country roads after work so the constant high beam switching was getting old real fast.
So far it works pretty damn well. High beams just stay on and the car blocks out oncoming traffic on its own. I can see deer on the shoulder and road signs way further out now. On the highway it tracks cars smoothly, you barely notice it working.
It does take like 5 seconds to kick in after you switch high beams on though. And under maybe 50km/h it just stays on low beam, doesn't do the cutout thing at all. Drove through a bad rainstorm last week and it gave up entirely — just went back to low beams. Camera probably couldn't see anything.
One thing that caught me off guard is you can see the shadow edges shift around when someone comes around a curve at you. Not a big deal but the first couple nights I kept looking at it. Stopped noticing after a few days.
Still kind of annoyed this was sitting in my car disabled since I bought it. S552 was on my build sheet the whole time.
Anyone else running NGHB on their G05? Wondering if the laser headlight version does the cutouts any differently or if it's basically the same.

Can you detail the steps you took to do it, please? :)

It's not a simple BimmerCode toggle unfortunately. The NGHB activation involves a few different modules — headlight control unit and FEM/BDC both need changes. I didn't do it myself, had a coding specialist handle it remotely.

Coding is not supported on yours.

Dang... I knew that BimmerCode doesn't work on this but I was thinking that maybe you did it on your own with eSys.

Are you sure?

On my G60, for example, I managed to do it with BimmerUtility and waited for an OTA update to get it working.

I was referring to coding in general versus the pre-LCI. With Bimmercode only a few minor things can be done. As far as anti-dazzle goes, there are companies that can do it for you since they can request the signed files from BMW. You can always try the change and wait for the update trick, I thought folks reported that doesn't work but that could have changed.

Got it. As I said, on my G60, I coded it like that, waited for the OTA, and it worked after.

I will try the same thing once I take delivery of the G05, but I doubt it will work since it has not worked for anyone before. :)

Worth a shot for sure. If the OTA doesn't sort it out let me know, I might be able to point you in the right direction.

Yep, it does. I will let you know when that is the case. Below is mine from last night with the anti-dazzle. :)

That looks great, solid cutoff line. Yeah keep me posted on the G05, happy to help if you need it.

Let me have it delivered first and then I will start looking for this, too. 🙂
