The 'love' is not strong enough and that is absolutely fair enough.

We buy cars, drive away and through 20k out of the window, so to get something you desire, what does MSRP matter?

I've used the grey market for two decades, when you could get models cheaper than MSRP and more recently a lot more than MSRP.

Picked up a Gen1 Pepsi a few months ago and could turn it for £3k profit currently, but I'm enjoying it.

But, it's an age old debate and everyone has their own opinion of it.

That’s how I felt, but I don’t spend nearly enough and my AD basically said try in 20 years… my mindset might be shifting for the Daytona and only the Daytona. I honestly really like the watch. Wouldn’t be buying for hype or resale, I genuinely love the design and the aesthetic of a panda chronograph and Rolex, I think, executes it perfectly. I’m a big Omega fan as well, but the Moonwatch just never called to me.

In 2017/2018 or so I found a grey market panda Daytona priced at $17k (when MSRP was $12,500 I believe). I was in no position to buy it then (was in law school and was not going to ask my parents for something like that…)

I’m still somewhat kicking myself for not someone grabbing it!
I went the obsolete way and got a white dial Moonwatch. Love it and I am wearing it right now. :)

I do also own a blue dial Yatchmaster.

Correct I agree. I also have my educated assessment of over twenty years on how this whole thing works and that’s why I am against going grey. Even if its cheaper than MSRP I’d rather do a private one to one sale than go grey.

In the end I buy to keep use and abuse. No safe or garage queens here.

That white dial is gorgeous. If I didn’t want the snoopy I’d get that or an old LE model like the Japan racing or tintin. Those are absolutely gorgeous. You can check out my insta @junglehour where I have installed the LE flat link bracelet and 1171 bracelet on my 1861 hesalite moon watch.

I buy to use, perhaps not abuse, but my watches are worn irrespective of any activity and have battle scars to prove it.

You said you 'loved' the Daytona, so why not buy one and wear one if it isn't the economics?

Grey is here to stay and to me is just another method of buying what I want, when I want it.

Yeah mine are too.

Nope not buying if not MSRP or under. Love it but not enough to go against my philosophy.

If I really want something and don't want to wait five years, I'll pay the market price. I've had quite a few, and now that I'm older, I only have a "pensioner's watch" so I always know what day it is. :D

I love how you included the Omega “Silver Snoopy Award” 50th Anniversary watch in your group!

Sticking to a principle gets my approval.

I'd still get 8k sterling profit selling them today, so albeit never look at as watch as an investment, it's just my savings I can wear, which give me more pleasure than looking at a balance.

I have also lost loads buying grey, but it's my hobby.

So-- we're just under a month for Watches and Wonders 2026 (14-20 Apr) in Geneva.

What's the Collective's best bet on what will be new? Discontinued?

Curiosity abounds.

Rumors of coke incoming, Pepsi being discontinued or precious metal only. Also maybe a new Milgauss (I selfishly hope not) and new land dweller colors/models.

I’m interested as always!

Every year I hope for a white-faced 40mm Explorer-1. It'll probably never happen in my lifetime, but it *would* provide symmetry with the Explorer II.

The termination of the Pepsi would make sense-- Rolex has apparently had a lot of QC problems with the ceramic bezel in those colors, which is why they're so hard to find.

Every year its the same story. I was kind of excited that they would release an all black GMT (My Favorite) but instead they did the black and grey which i like and have my name down for.

I dont know if i would like a modern Coke bezel though as 16760 being my fave....

Fortunately, I have a very good relationship with my AD and maybe the next one will be a black SS Daytona. Are you on “the list” for a Daytona in your local AD?

Anyway I will tell you something: if it is your favourite watch, don’t discard paying over MSRP for it. What I would never do would be playing the “AD’s game”, buying tons of expensive jewellery that I don’t really want in order to obtain a Rolex/AP/Patek allocation at MSRP. It is way cheaper going directly to the gray market and, of course, much quicker. Thank to goodness that’s not my situation because my AD knows me and my family since many many years ago, but the vast majority of them require being a big spender to have a chance to get the call for a hot piece, which is something extremely frustrating.

Anyway, there are many magnificent non-Rolex timepieces that you can buy as a walk in if you love chronographs, such a Moonwatch, IWC Portofino Chronograph, Zenith El Primero or so ;)

Yes I am on the list but im not begging or going to them or checking in.....I will send an email before I am in the area and tell them i'll be visiting and thats it.

Also, I would never ever buy any of the above watches you have mentioned at MSRP as they are cheaper used from fellow enthisiasts....and i have a moonwatch of course LOL

Again I will never go grey.......it does not effect me any negative way if i dont get the Black Daytona from the AD. Now, if a friend comes along and says his is for sale at MSRP (which never happens, thats why i never sell my watches out of the immediate family. And the family gets it for what i paid or they paid etc) then i'll get that or i would actually jump on a private no ceramic black dial sale to come along.

Best of luck to you.
