11/2024 Update Changes

1 Attachment(s)
Here are the release notes for 11/2024 update. As usual, focused on iDrive 8.5 and now 9 and heavily leaning toward MINI. I do want that "GoKart Mode" though

As a previous Mini owner, I kind of thought GoKart Mode was just the act of driving that thing.

Looks like no more updates for ID7 cars 🥹

What leads you to that?

In the past these “changes” documents have usually had a section at the end for Service Pack 18 improvements.

I haven't seen iD7 mentioned in awhile in the release notes. They weren't mentioned in 07/2024 and iD7 gets it. I guess we will see.

I think the better way to have phrased that would have been "Looks like no new feature enhancements for ID7 cars" and I think most would agree that is the case. As much as I would love for BMW to back port new features and add stuff to my 2020 ID7 equipped vehicle, why would they? They are in the business to sell new cars, not spend resources on keeping older ones on the road longer. It's just business. Plus like any technology, new features often require more computing power and the older hardware often times doesn't make for a good experience if the screen becomes laggy, etc and may actually create safety issues.

ID7 still gets bug fixes and tweaks as needed. The release notes may only list the several new enhancements that are noticeable to the end user but there are often times hundreds of things included in a release for all vehicles, ID7 - ID9.

I did not get an 07/2024 update. Mine sits at 11.2023.50 and the vehicle and app both say "No Updates Available" for my iD7 in a 2023 X5.

Checking for updates in the App or in iDrive does nothing since BMW does not support updates on demand. It all depends on if and when your vehicle is selected to receive an OTA.

You mentioned that iD7 got the 07.2024 update. I was simply saying mine did not, and if I look for an update it says none available.

Yes and I was explaining why it says none is available. ;)

Have a 2025 and haven’t received the update. Any idea what BMW’s release schedule looks like ?
Thanks

Took my 2019 in last Tuesday. They programmed it, did the safety Starter recall, stated on the invoice "Found that vehicle's integration level was below targeted value and proceeded with programming" to an Actual I-Level: S15A-24-07-555. Might want to ask your Advisor about this.

Car is driving fine but needed a few adjustments like my driver's seat setting.

Dealer software update is 7/2024.55 which should be the most recent.

The release a new major version three times a year in March, July and November. OTA's usually start a couple of months after the release. I think the 07/2024 OTA started about a month ago in the US.

Dealer updates are on 11/2024, hence the title of the thread. We’ve already had members receive this version when having work performed at the dealer. I’ve had it on my laptop for a week but still deciding if I want to load it or wait since I’m already on 7/2024.

Got the car back yesterday after getting the telecommunications module replaced and they updated the software to 11/2024.25.

It now seems to have trouble remembering both my last selected widget and the main screen I was on. I almost always use trip details widget + media selection, but now when I get in the car, it will often show map widget + full screen map. If I touch the screen, it will suddenly switch to the media page, as if it wasn't fully initialized.

Now that my TCM has been replaced and the built-in wifi/etc. seems to actually be working properly, I'll probably switch back to using Android Auto.

At least the new "Deactivate Auto Stop/Start" option seems to work. No more messing with the traction settings.

11/2024.28 is the latest release as of this week. The initial release of 11/2024.25 was quickly followed up with another release the following week. Once a month for a "patch" is typical so this must have been an oopsie.

Good reason to wait for the OTA for a few months.

Generally agree here unless you either have the capability to flash yourself or need a particular fix.

I’ve had my 24 x1 28i (with ID9) since late December 23. From what have seen BMW’s larger software updates come out quarterly. They hit overseas before coming to North America about 3 months later.
The last one I was able to upload to vehicle was the 7/2024. back in early October.
Heard there’s a 11/2024 update but probably will not come to NA OTA to BMW app until January-February 2025. Somethings a dealer will provide the update sooner if you bring vehicle in for service or fix another issue.

Note: smaller updates are done by OTA directly to the vehicle & often not know had occurred. But at times alters something or created glitches.

They are rolled out in US before UK.

A few corrections. Major software releases are down three times a year, March, July and November. OTA's follow the same pattern

Smaller update are NEVER done OTA directly to the vehicle and not known to occur. All OTA updates require user intervention to have it install. You may be confusing that with the Apps and Services updates that are pushed and installed automatically.
