Try the steps listed
here (and pasted below) to see if that works for an X5 as well.
1) The car has to be stationary with the engine running
2) Press the HBA button to activate HBA
3) Pull the turn signal lever toward you for manual HB
4) Hold it there for 15 seconds
5) Watch warning sign pop up on the iDrive screen
6) HBA Reduced Sensitivity Mode activated
