I know what you mean. When I first read about the option I thought it would be one that I didn't use. I mean, how hard is it to change lanes? Turns out I use it for almost every lane change I make, it is smooth and easy. It also adds an extra level of safety since it won't turn into a lane if another car is there. Actually I think the side collision avoidance may stop you on manual changes but haven't tested it of course.
