I grew up on a small farm and had dogs, cats, pigs, cows etc, not a lot of each but a variety. Oh we had well over 100 rabbits but that was a small business (we are Maltese).
Dogs and cats lived outside at all times, we had a little house for the dogs but they just slept under a tree unless it was mid July and a bit chilly.
